I really like this shy girl but she kinda ignores/avoids me. Her best friend told me this girl liked me so I don't get why she is doing that?

I have a problem with one of my female friends (i'm a guy).

I've been crushing on her really hard and I think about her pretty much all the time. She does know I like her as far as I know. I asked her best friend once and she said i'm the kind of guy she likes but the thing is she ignores/avoids me most of the time.

Every time when we're in a group (mostly 2-3 guys, her, and her best friend) she acts like i don't exist. She's very shy and passive and I've read some articles cause I was curious as to what girls do if they like a guy. They say that a girl who likes a guy stands near him, looks at him etc. But she never walks beside me or looks at me. As a matter of fact she has no problem communicating and maintaining eye contact with my male friends. Do shy girls show other signs of interest or does she not like me at all.
I get along extremely well with her best friend and I can talk to her a lot but I just can't get a conversation like this with my crush...

What baffles me is that she is very open as far as texting is concerned. Even though I have to initiate EVERY single text (I hope it's because she is very shy and passive) she always answers and keeps the conversation going. We're even at the point where we give each other cute nicknames.

Therefore I don't get this girl since she is comfortable with texting me but ignores me in person. She does laugh at pretty much all my jokes but that might be cause I'm a funny guy. I compliment her a lot, only when I really mean it though. In texts she always thanks me followed by a blushing face but when I compliment her in person she kinda brushes it off and doesn't thank me.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

You answered your own question there. She is shy! That's how shy girls are, when they like someone. I was the same with a guy I really liked, but I did not want anyone to notice, because it was with his friends and I did not know his intentions. So I ignored him, when he smiled at me, I stayed dead serious, and instead I spent most of my time with his buddy (with who I could have much easier conversations).
The results: They thought I want his friend and he got over me. I tried to text him, but I think it was too late.
You don't want that to happen, and so I think you should just ask her out! Spend time just alone with her and see if you two have more to say to each other.
What's the worst that can happen? A no? I doubt that.

I know this is an old question and I am sorry to barge in like this but can you please tell me if this also applies to text? I like this girl who gives me all the signs that was said on the question, but I texted her which I goofed up cause I got her number from a group chat and she didn't know it was me I said, "hey, its (name)" she asked if I needed something and then I said whats up but I never received another message but I also never got the read on iPhone. I don't know if a shy person who doesn't know someone that will text back. I did get all signs of liking! I only knew her for 4 days and then off and on at conference

As a shy girl myself, I avoid eye contact with a guy I like... because I don’t want to be gawking at him, nor do I want others to notice my attention is somewhere else. I really have trouble talking to others, so to talk to a guy I like well... my mind is blank, and I say very stupid random things. Plus I’m a klutz, so if I can’t think straight I will fall down the stairs again. Also everyone loves complements, but they won’t show how they feel at times... since that would show one’s emotions, so in a shy girl mind we might died from embarrassment. But if you can get her to text you, and talk to you often... then that is other sign that she doesn’t hate if she replies back.

Yes, she likes you. And some girls are shy... it feels comfortable to text cause u guys didn't c eachother in person, and it's harder for a very shy person to relax in front of her crush. You should ask her out, and make her feel relaxed by talking about sth that you guys have in common.

I am in this same situation and I told her that I liked her but she took 12 hours to respond to say thank you with 3 smiley emojis. When we were at school she saw me around but ignored me. But now I'm just going to pull back if she liked the efforts I gave then she will act if not then her loss. And her friends too watch out for them some are poison. Speaking from experience.

Talk to her or complement her. Smiles work! It lets her feel comfortable with you, and she'll open up more.
