Why does a guy use a picture with a girl in his profile picture?

The guy I have been dating for 2 months just used a picture of him and a girl standing together like a couple as his whatsapp picture. When I asked, he said that was taken two years ago with his best friend.

Do guys do that? Why?

I mean, I'm single and I would never use such a picture as my profile picture. It's very couple like (those who have been committed for years or longer)

Guys do that, but not if they're serious about the girl they're with. I define dating as having a BF/GF, but since it seems like you two haven't had the official talk yet, 1) he probably doesn't think you'd be bothered by it and 2) you can't ask him to change the picture. If you can see a future with him and if you do want him to be your boyfriend, you should have that talk sooner rather than later. You gotta "lock him down", so to speak. Otherwise he'll continue to do things like that, you'll continue to feel confused/hurt by it, and he won't have a clue that his actions are affecting you.

I'm sure he was being honest about the girl just being a good friend and he probably just wanted to use the pic as a sort of testament to their friendship. If it makes you uncomfortable, however, you'll have to talk to him about her at some point. Maybe you could m ask him some questions about the girl, like how often the two of them get together, if she has a boyfriend, if they ever dated, etc.

Two years ago with his best friend really probably means nothing. Four of my best friends are guys, three of which are my (sorta) boyfriend's best friends, too.
Unless you don't feel like you can completely trust him, the picture is probably just some happy memory with a best friend of his. Means nothing concerning you.

That's a bit complicated. I have known him for two months from online. At first, we were dating and he had been texting everyday to me. Things changed since we started to have sex after the 3rd date. He treated me more like a booty call or what he said a "lover". That's why I say I'm single

well if you're classing yourself as single, or his friend with benefits, then what he does with other women isn't really any of your concern, but if you two were a couple, then it would be inappropriate.
