A mixture of recurrent and severe major depressive disorder and rampant drug use, along with a slightly inward front tooth (which I have always been self-conscious about) which led to slightly yellow tinted (not really that bad, but not pearly whites, and I think anything other than pearly whites are gross), growing up on sugary drinks, and not having parents that enforced or even taught me how to brush my teethe correctly, all adds up to me never smiling if I can help it, much less in a friggin' photo.

Which, incidentally, is probably the reason I've given up on dating. The teethe aren't that horribly bad, considering, but the way they make me feel about myself is.
Sadly, I never realized how important smiles are: socially, romantically, it really impacts the way people see you. Even my friggin' dentist gives me looks like I'm some idiot lout who's too stupid to brush his teethe. Which I do, three times a day, after meals. Along with flossing once a day. Now, anyway, for the past three years...:\
I never smile if I can help it.

I smile when I'm happy and I hate having my photo taken, put the two together.
Not everyone smiles In pictures. That picture us frozen in time. Safer to look serious as if you have things under control than as if you're some dork who expects the world to share their feelings.
Also some people look better not smiling.
And some people don't like their smile.
Lots of guys smile in pics. Lots of women look better looking smirky than smiky
Maybe be thankful? GF once dated from Christian Mingles a guy who's "smile" was always the same, looked like a early model Buick's chrome grill, only mostly in white. The oddest shape... think also rectangle with rounded edges... Even when presented with the photos, he never considered how odd, never changed this pose.
they dont? I've seen plenty of them do it. i think some people look hotter when they smile and some look hotter when they dont, anded some look hot with both lmao. it just depends on how it comes off i guess.

I used to think I looked really silly when I smiled on a pic!
So I stopped doing that
Then I realized I look even sillier when I DON'T smile on a pic
so now I smile on all of them

You can clearly see, the guy's mouth is a smile.

Therefore this user was LYING!
3.bp.blogspot.com/.../Phoenix-Wright.jpgFor myself, I can't fake smile. I smile when I am happy, doing a fake smile makes me look strange.
I come from a British background, and was trained as a child to look serious when posing for a photographed. If you want a photo of me smiling, it has to be a candid photo and not one where I am asked to pose.
America is the only country in the word, where you will see someone smiling in their drivers licence or passport photos. A big toothy smile in either in my country, would have that photo rejected for official ID.Although it has been scientifically proven that women find men with a brooding, self-assured facial expression than men that smile...
...
... that isn't why I don't smile in pictures.
I have always had a problem smiling on cue for pictures; it always comes out looking forced and unnatural. So I always do a slightly smile, because it looks better than a big smile.
Damn my handicap! :-PNone of the above
The reason is that I'm not a fan of making a big to-do about snapping pictures. When people stop, pull their phones or cameras out, and then try to get everyone organized into a picture (usually just to show off on Facebook)... it's annoying.
If I'm out somewhere doing something with friends, I just want to do that thing. I don't need to document it with pictures and whatnot, I JUST WANT TO DO IT.
Plus it's odd to stand their smiling for like 30 seconds while the picture taker figures out how to use a camera for the first time in their life lolI prefer to smile in person more. Since pics are a moment that's frozen I usually like neutral or non extreme emotional faces. Provably because I don't walk around with a smile on my face constantly. I'm person I'm more often welcoming :)
Oh but for many guys that are probably trying to appear strong or macho.https://i62.tinypic.com/1zh2v5w.jpg
you mean like this one... ;P... why the fuck to give a smile without a reason... that sounds like shit to us... we smile fucking hard in real life... but we dont have to prove that we are very cheerful in a pic... we know we are... we dont want unnecassary sympathy from anyone... we are strong and WE KNOW IT... ;P ;P ;DWow all the shilas seam to think we do it to look tough... well thats not me I think I have a nice smile but I realy hate camera's so when having my photo taken I can't smile and a fake smile on me looks goofy so I dont. But honestly I normaly hide when somone gets one of those bloody things out. So ya lucky to c a pick of me in the first place. Its got nothin to do with insecurity as I dont belive im ugly I just HATE being in front of a camera... thats why I dont smile..
Generally guys dont like to smile or they just smile to give glimpse of happiness so that the picture remains more real to world. Its not necessary to give a fake smile everytime a guy gets pictured.
And most of the guys dont like to show fake personality. They like to be what they really are in their real lofe and in their pictures photographs too.
Thanks.I don't like how I look in pictures, so I don't like taking pictures of myself, that's why I don't smile. But basically because I feel fake, it's a forced smile and when I look at the picture I see a fake me.
by the way, I've heard many times (from girls and internet too) that women prefer men that don't smile in the pictures, like they find them more attractive.Because I look like a smiling monkey or gorilla, and sometime like a smiling donkey doing advertisement of toothpaste. Sometime I feel like this and I do not like selfie and my pics. I do enjoy buying them it's so good to see my face catching flames. I do not think any girl with enjoy a smiling donkey it's funny you find it cute.
Fake smiles look stupid. I don't like posing for pictures, and I especially never take selfies. It's such a strange thing to me. I think my smile is fine when I'm smiling because I'm having a good time, but slapping one on and playing to the camera is just awkward.
In most cases we genuinely don't like our smiles, to a male when a woman smiles it's the most precious moment but to men it can go two ways most feel it as a sign of weakness or that there "buddies" (hate that word) will degrade them in a sense, on the other hand I personally think my smile is a terrible site!
I know! They just stare at the camera with that straight face and brows raised like 'the hell's goin on' or 'i'm confused and don't know what i'm doin' look. The justin bieber pose. It's annoying.
But some smile and it's adorable <3The thing is I can't take a selfie smiling that looks good like if there's a picture someone is taking of me I look good but just when I'm taking a sefie for whatever reason I look weird and honestly I'm a good looking dude so it's so frustrating when I take a bad selfie so I just do it without smiling.
I'll speak for myself most of the time i do not like to smile Unless my girlfriend got me something or someone gives me something I really like but when a person just takes a picture of me it is not in my nature to smile.
Well I think most of us guys have a hard time expressing our emotions because of how society makes it seem like a weakness for men to do so, if you compound this with the fact that it is hard to be spontaneously happy on cue it doesn't mix very well.
I just don't like smiling in pictures, but I'm also an INTJ, so for me to smile, it either has to be something pretty substantial, not to mention I find fake smiles to be illogical, and that just doesn't compute with me.
It depends on what I'm going for in the picture. Sometimes I raise an eyebrow or do something else cute with it. For the most part I smile though. It's really hard to do if you're new to having your picture taken but pffft not me... lol
I don't like my picture taken. And when I get one taken it seems like I'm faking a smile which doesn't look good. I just don't take pictures. My profile pic was taken by surprise when I was genuinely smiling.
