Hero means someone that will do the right thing even when their own life is at stake. They will do anything for the happiness of other people. They don't necessarily need superpowers either. In this situation, you've got the 'friend/brother' label, but she may still be unusually attracted to you.
Next time she calls you that, retort with something like 'I'm no hero, I'm a villain'. Then leave her cold for a few days/weeks.
If I tell someone that they're my hero in that context, I usually mean that I appreciate something they did for me, or I'm being sarcastic.

If she's a really energetic person by nature, it might be nothing. I know a few people who use 'OMG you're my hero' just to say 'OMG that was totally awesome' a little differently.
in this context, I would assume she was being slightly sarcastic, but exaggerating her appreciation for you. kind of like calling a guy that has all the women after him a 'God'.
It means you are very useful to her and worth keeping emotionally hostage by suggesting there might one day be something between you two.
maybe she likes you more than her boyfriend. :D It could happen.
