He's feeling out your feelings for him in the most emotioanlly safe way possible.
Guys, good guys, are often afraid of saying the "I love you"'s too soon, because:
1) They have had bad experiences where doing so seems to have ruined a future
2) They don't want to be alone in the saying
3) They know what it means to girls and don't want to say it unless they mean it the same way (for more mature guys).
So, its pretty safe to say "A lot, a lot" because its something they can back out of but it also conveys that they are really interested (at this time).
The "what do you want from me, from us" line was, to be honest, probably a "do you want me to make love to you now?" (or if he's a player, can I have sex with you in a way that I won't get accused of seducing or misleading you).
Either way, it shows experience on his part, or maturity. He's finding out what your wanting in a non threatening way which should avoid you both getting hurt and allow any love to grow freely (Its a grat way to ask, I wish I had thought of saying that once in my past instead of just wondering for the rest of my life what the moment ment).
Hes either a really great guy, or an expert player. I would susspect the first unless there are other signs.

sometimes girls like to complicate things..
"what do you want from me, us" basically means WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME, US.
No code, nothing, just means what do you want,
Reason we ask is we don't know what you want from the relationship and therefore we ask.. to get an answer..
