I don't think your friends and family members are lying to you. Do YOU believe that you're pretty and cute? I'm sure you are! Many boys feel nervous about giving a girl compliments. They may be afraid that you won't like them, or that you might feel creeped out.
It happens to me. I have guys (sometimes girls) look at me in a way that seems like they want to compliment me. This is mostly at work since I'm always around people. However, many guys who look at me and smile don't say anything to me. I think it's because they're shy, or it's because I'm working.
Try talking to guys at school. I'm sure there are guys who think you're pretty and cute. Even if guys who are not your type compliment you, just say 'thank you' and just engage in small talk. You don't have to be interested in every guy out there who compliments you. Just striking up a conversation is a good start.
You have beautiful girls and you have cute girls. The first ones come into categories Mynx, Barbie, Gold Digger, The occasional firestorm... cute girls though are the best in my opinion, there's just something about them that makes you like them and you don't even know why. And honestly, we can't judge... haven't seen you.
You have to be a bit more outgoing. Talk to guys you're interested in. Don't be afraid to make the first move.
