at first I was thinking welllll its probably the way she looks. I mean we all know women can be just as shallow as men (and don't say you arent, when you know you are). but then I started to really think about it and I think what's really intimidating is when she's too smart for me. OK now I know what you're thinking, you're thinking, wtf. how can a girl be too smart for a guy. well what I mean by too smart is just never admitting when she's wrong.
for example. I may be wrong about something and ill admit it but I don't like when she rubs it in my face. I expect the same from you. if I admit when I'm wrong, you should too. and that comes with how smart each of us are. we both know what 2+2 is, right? but did you know that pineapple express isn't just the name of a HILARIOUS movie. its actually a weather phenomenon that happens in the pacific northwest. I can prove it to you and if you try to say there isn't such a thing and you turn out to be right or w/e then I would feel intimidated because I would feel embarrassed. guys, like girls don't like to be embarrassed. we're human, just like girls.

Being too attractive is intimidating, since the risk of rejection is higher. Or you might be taken.
Having a permanent scowl on your face is intimidating, because it says "don't f*ck with me". It keeps men away.
As you said, girls who are too fashionable all the time are intimidating. Especially if the guy dresses like a hobo, haha.
Having too much male attention is intimidating. If you're surrounded by guys (3 or more) I'd think you're used to the attention, has many options to choose from and probably a big ego.

smile eye contact and laugh at what he says and you will really make him feel comfortable around you. had girlfriends who were really shy and I couldn't tell if she was interested in me of if she was bored to death. took me the longest time to finally say f*** it and try to kiss her, no regrets but really would have appreciated if she gave a few more subtle hints.
She could be really pretty, which causes all kinds of doubts to run through some guy's heads. Since you said you are silent and shy, it could also be that they think you are too smart for them. I don't know what you look like it could be a mixture of both, or it could just be the way you carry yourself.

If a girl is shy and hard to talk it does make things intimidating as your not sure if the girl would be worth striking up a conversation with. Another thing is most guys see girls who are shy, silent as maybe stuck up and they tend to act awkward like avoiding the opposite gender . Most girls who intimidate guys are usually reserved and quiet and not loud and outspoken. Also a girl with lots of guys around her is intimidating as you'll have to win her. A girl who expects you to read her mind is intimidating.
Well in my opinion it's because if I decide to ask her out, it's the rejection.
