Chin ups are naturally easier because the biceps are being heavily incorporated, so the load is being split across more muscle groups. Pull ups with overhand position almost completely remove the biceps from the equation which means the strength of the other muscles involved in the movement is being tested more. Specifically the lats, which are the muscles in the upper back responsible for creating a "V" shaped torso.
because chin ups you're using more of your biceps and less your back.
during a pull up its a bigger back workout.
both of these workouts use back and bicep muscles but how much they use for each is totally different which makes 1 more difficult than the other.
Yes agree with most. Chin-ups is mainly biceps and you use it in its most favourable position. Pull-ups use biceps in a less optimal way, but also shoulder and back muscle and also in a not optimal way. So you need well developed muscles of the three groups to do as good. That is why climbers are good in it. But you should certainly continue doing it, because its better for your general upper body development.
They train the same muscles, so you should be able to do it:

Weird.
Pull ups are actually a lot harder and I hear they require a different set up muscles but I'm not completely sure, I'll look into it

pullups are really hard for beginners no doubt , but they are also 1 exercise which is great for back muscles.
Try doing as much as you can in different sets.
like if u only can do 1 , do 1 but do 20 or 10 sets.
Over time , you back will get stronger and you will be able to do 5 , then 10...
even i was unable to do 1 pullup , now i can do 20 easily...
chinups are easy because , in that we incorporate our biceps in pulling our body.
Chin ups target more the biceps. Pull ups target more the back. The start of a pull up requires a strong lat muscle. That is why a lot of people lack a pull up, because they cannot do the start movement. If you have a strong biceps, that will take over some strength in a chin up.
@BertMacklinFBI answered it swimmingly but I want my xper points damnit!
Chin ups work your biceps more while pullups work your lats and other upper back muscles more.
hahaa here have 1 more xper point and give me a highfive :D
*highfive*
Pullups require you to use more lat muscle than bicep, while the opposite is true for chin-ups.
I use to have the same problem as you did when I was younger but now I can do more pull ups than I can chin ups. :-P
You can train your body to do anything really just practice it more, most of it is just muscle memory anyways. And chin ups are easier cause it allow to use more of the stronger muscles such as your biceps brachii.
Because your bicips are usually wayy stronger than your lats/back muscles
Pull ups use your back more than your arms.
