Ok, this may sound harsh, but I'm just trying to help... how closely have you been monitoring what you eat? And what's your body stats like? I'm only 5'3", so I find unless I literally weigh everything... and I mean EVERYTHING, including lettuce, I don't lose weight, because I inadvertently eat too much (yes, you can eat too many calories, even from salad... though it's bloody hard). I'd say the likelihood that you are legitimately taking in 1000kcals with a 20lb weight gain is impossible. It's unlikely to be muscle gains on a 1000kcal a day diet, you need to have an excess of calories to build muscles - hence why bodybuilders have the high energy protein shakes in between meals. Lifting weights doesn't burn all that many calories, it'll just tone the muscles you have, and does help boost metabolism (if you actually get a muscle increase then your body naturally burns more calories at rest, as muscle uses more calories per hour to work than fat doe) but unless you are doing serious cardio too just pushing weights won't help you, you need to eat clean AND burn off excess - doing HIIT training (high intensity interval training) has been shown to elevate your metabolism for up to 24 hours after exercise. The other issue is that 1000kcals is actually too low and you could be putting your body into starvation mode, meaning it'll store any fat it takes in thinking you need to survive a famine! Even at my height it's recommended that I never go below 1200kcals, and when dieting I don't normally go below 1400! So if you have been weighing and writing everything down (which is a total ball ache and massively time consuming, I'm not gonna lie) and you genuinely are on 1000kcals a day, try upping it - though you may have damaged your metabolism so if that's the case, make sure you up the exercise as well as the food!
Ps, I may not look like I know what I'm doing, but as an ex gymnast and ex skinny person (with ED) I used to very much do what I'm telling you - and I was 8st, but I worked out for an hour a day EVERY day (cardio only, I did weights on top) on top of normal walking etc! If you are even vaguely like me (short and prone to weight gain) it's bastard hard work and you'll have more bad days than good! But good luck... I should join you!!!

20 pounds does not make you gross so forgive yourself. One thing I can think of is that when you were counting calories - you may have eaten too little which could slow down your metabolism. The other possibility is that you made a calculation error when you were keeping track of calories. I used to burn 600 calories in the gym everyday and would eat a chocolate power bar before my work out. After doing this for 8 months, I realized the choclate power bar was 800 calories!!! The other possibility is that when you work out - you become hungry and eat more calories then you are buring off. Today I had along walk and became hungry and I probably had an 800 calorie - 1200 calorie sushi dinner to fill up my hunger. I regreted my decision but I was at the mall and there were very few healthy eating options and I thought Sushi was the closest thing to healthy food I could find there. Change your routine - and ignore the exercise for now. Focus on dieting and make sure you drink enough water because when you are dehydrated your liver is too busy trying to keep you healthy to focus on burning fat.
The best way to lose or gain weight isn't all about calorie intake. It's more just the healthier the meals. Cause you can eat 1000 calories of candy, but since it's all sugar your body has no use for it so it turns it to fat because you can't burn that much sugar in a day. But if you are eating broccoli and lean proteins like fish there are no artificial sugars or fats that just become stored.

Don't count calories.
You have to eat the right food.
If you are eating only 1000 calories but the foods doesn't provide any nutritional value than it's pointless. It could be muscle mass. Does it seem like you're getting fatter or more muscular? There is a definite difference!
It could also be the content of what you're eating. What does your diet look like?Ironically when you do not eat enough food your body sucks the fat out of whatever you do eat for storage. You might not be eating enough. Also, avoid eating right before bed.
Don't count calories, counting your calories is so 80's and 90's, these days it's all about counting your macros
take it easy dear first of all do it for your self not for your friend or any body else maybe it's beacus you are not having enough sleep or it's about your metabolism i think you have a low metabolism rate
You have most likely gained some muscle, but what kind of foods have you been eating?
You're not resting properly. You most likely have severe inflammation from working out too much. You have to take breaks. Honestly, eating and resting is far more important than working out.
lifting weights? muscle weighs more than fat, i hope those weights were very small
What is '1000 net calories'?
How do your clothes fit relative to 4 months ago?it's probably the pork head you ate last night? when did you last pooped?
