Toning up is a result of a combination of both fat loss and muscle gain, two things that cannot happen simultaneously. You have to decide which one of those you want to work on first. And what you do in the gym today doesn't matter. The results you want won't come unless you can commit to following an actual workout plan for a good 3 or so months minimum.
Make a plan that has you following a schedule that is 3 months long. Stick to the schedule. And remember its not today that matters but committing to the plan. If you go to the gym without a plan already set in stone you're already failing.

Lunges are the best workout to firm up your butt. Calf raises is another great exercise to target your glutes.
I have been doing squats + weight lunges for a week, and my arse feels tight as fuck xD try it.
Repeat after me "squats and more squats followed by deadlifts and lunges."
