How do I get good at running?

start running. that's really the only way to get better. anyways, no sidewalks shouldn't be a deterrent. i live in a town where there are no sidewalks beyond the middle of the town. also, sidewalks/pavement is bad for your feet. also, don't use treadmills. it's not running and it'll fuck up your mechanics and won't actually help you run more. also, learn how to run. it's fairly simple. most of running is about being comfortable, breathing correctly and having good form (especially arms). breath in through your mouth and out through your nose. 75% of running is dependent on your arms. have good arms. and because it's distance, make sure you strike your heals. striking your toes will cause shin splints. and lastly, make sure to eat properly. carbo load the night before a big run. lots of bread and pasta... and hydrate the night before
Start by walking a 3 mile course and recording your times. You should be able to do it in an hour, or 20 min/mi. Then start picking up the pace but no faster than being able to have a normal conversation. When you're down to a 15 min mile (course n 45 min), start slowly jogging, still not taxing your breath past a normal conversation. You'll be amazed at how fast you'll get down to a 12 minute mile. If you've not had a physical in over three years, that'd be a good idea so you know your health will support your program.
95% of all running injuries are caused by bad shoes so buy some really good ones to start. Once you running every day, buy a new pair every 3-6 months or anytime you're having pain.
You just gotta start! You can start with circuits though, so don't feel like you have to run a full mile at a time. Start off slow, run for 30 seconds, walk for 30, until you've run a full mile. Do this for a week or two, depending on how you feel, and then gradually increase your running time or (decrease walking), so then 45 run/30 walk, minute run/30 walk, minute/20, minute/15. And then you can start increasing the distances as well. You might not even have to go down in such small increments if your body gets that endurance faster.
You need to build up your stamina.
Hit the treadmill (or road, although I personally prefer the treadmill because it gives you all the interesting stats) at least 3-4x per week, you might only be able to do 10-15 minutes without walking breaks at first but after a month or two you might already make it for an hour without getting out of breath!

there's only one way to get better, you have to keep running.
there are precautions and steps you can take to help yourself run more efficiently, like don't drag your feet, keep your core tight when you run, lift up your feet instead of running lazy, etc.
but to get better, you just have to run and run and run. you should notice improved conditioning and running strength within like 2-4 weeks if you run say... 4 times a wee, at least 1 mile at a decent pace.
You can get better at it by actually running. When you become a decent runner you'll understand why these joggers are going extra miles on their run.
It's because running becomes fun when you're use to it. Keep trying I was like this at before too but running is a real joy for me you just need to break that barrier it isn't invincible! Oh, and eat right ofc :)
I'm not sure everyone has their own diets, habits, etc but carbs do give you a nice boost of energy. Two bananas are usually sufficient and a glass or two of chocolate milk is perfect for recovery it really does make you feel better after a run. It's relaxing, and nourishing.
What I mean when I said ''eat right'' is to eat healthy. Instead of going for the oreos in the grocery store go for a bundle of bananas and instead of coca cola try some almond milk or buy some green tea and lemons to make a nice detoxifying drink. When you're eating right, which is another way of saying eating healthy your body will reflect on it because it's only being nourished with the good stuff and doesn't have to deal with garbage that junk food provides. It'll make for a better runner.
Start out doing light distances. If you're not used to distance running, start out doing one or two miles and do that three times each week. You might also consider doing some sprinting workouts in between (Distance on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and sprinting on Tuesday and Thursday).
First decide if you like to run 😂 cuz let me tell you I hate it and its nit because i get winded. Its just boring. I'd rather do something else. There has to be articles on the Internet that can guide you. I've seen like from couch to 5k. So I'd say google is your best friend here.
Whattttt? No sidewalk!
Anyways, you got to boost your stamina.. I suggest spend some time on the threadmill at your gym. First take it easy, just do a jog or fast walk. Over the next coming weeks mix it with a run on the threadmill.. You would feel accustomed to it and get less tired compared to starting out first.. That's what I did. First week I did 30 minutes then the next week later I could do an hour and don't get tired as much..
you just have to practice. start out running a mile and keep doing that for a few weeks and then start increasing the distance.
distance running is all about building endurance which is only done through practice
I would start at the gym on the treadmill with some music and just focus.
Also, take your dog running at a park/enclosed track, but lol, he may be out of shape too.
You will have to start a regular running program to begin building endurance. Keep with it, soon you'll find yourself running greater distances.
you have to keep doing it, the more you do it the easier and more enjoyable it gets. it feels amazing shaves seconds of your best time.
something that a lot of people dont understand is you use your abs and arms A LOT for running... when you're using your entire body your legs get tired slower
u just have to keep doing it. its a bit hard at first, but every day u'll get better at it :)
No sidewalk is alright , just Go to a park and circle the shit out of it.
Running requires leg , core strength and stamina. it'll all come with practise.
The only way is to keep running! At first you won't be able to run for more than 20 minutes, but the more you train, the more it'll be easy. You have to keep that cardio up!
just run as much as you can the first day and when you feel giving up then push yourself and do more running, practice makes you perfect
Get some big dude angry to chase you. I know when a girls boyfriend comes home early I run pretty dang fast. lol jk
for real like start running then work up to running.
Simple, You have me chase me you!
Practice makes perfect! Everyone starts somewhere.
To get good at something you have to do it.
