Anyone else having a life-threatening medical procedure done soon?

Because I am on Wednesday. Making peace inside my head now in case I don't make it. Because the remaining people in my family that I talk to are also going through hard times I've decided not to tell them what's going on and that I'm going on a long business trip. My friends are useless superficial trolls who would use the situation to try and make themselves look great. So I'm alone with it. This couldn't come at a worse time since I just found out I'm going to be laid off in January and I'll have to sell most of my possessions and move, and that's if I survive. And even if I survive, the side effects of the surgery can leave me suffering for weeks while I deal with all that. Yep, quite a Thanksgiving this year.

I think you should still tell your family even if they're going through hard times also, its good to have people there and people to talk to. I've never gone for life-threatening medical procedures but my dad was going to until the doctors decided its best not to. But through these doctors appointments other family members were going through tough times, it helps having family around and having people to talk to no matter what. That's what family is for, so I hope you tell them and I wish you all the best. I'm sorry for what your going threw.

You rather come on here and tell a bunch of strangers then have a close relative or friend hold your hand? That's sad.. I don't care what my family may be going through, if it were me. I would want them there. I wish you the best and a fast and speedy recovery. Reach out and call someone your family has a right to know.

What do you consider "life-threatening"? I have had 6 major surgeries in the last 10 years.
