One of my friends around 30 years old, used to be very overweight! He started bickram yoga and lost 35kg! I recommend it, never done it myself but looking at old photos of him and seeing who he has become is great. He is a much happier person. The only negative thing I would say is that it is very hot in the room so you sweat like crazy. So wear minimal clothes. My friend does it every 2 days and has for 4 years now. He loves it!

It's not the yoga so much as the vegetarian alcohol and drug-free yogic lifestyle that is good for people..I mean the exercises are fine for relaxation and reflection, but it's what that LEADS to that's important to me.
