Does it lessen their potential attractiveness but not automatically make them ugly?
Or does it have no affect at all?
I'm not attracted to overweight people at all. I've tried to beat around the bush and give it hope, but I HAVE to have some level of physical attraction. I'm not saying the guy has to look like David Beckham or Ryan Reynolds, but excess weight is an absolute turn-off to me.
And most overweight women don't carry the extra weight well, because few women have natural hourglass shape.
And it makes me think: if they're overweight while young, what are the chances you can teach an old dog new tricks and they'll begin eating healthier and exercising in the future?
Maybe I sound pessimistic, but most overweight people are unhealthy, despite their internet claims of running marathons and eating like birds while having some hormonal issues that seem to only exist within the US.
Does it make them ugly to me? No.
Does it lessen their potential attractiveness but not automatically make them ugly? I'm associating ugly with the face, so yes it lessens their attractiveness but does not necessarily make them ugly.
Well when you look at what is considered overweight by BMI standards I do think most people really don't think being overweight affects the attractiveness of a person most of us would look at that person as big or chubby but by no means fat now being clinically obese is where most people look at a person and think fat.
Now I don't mind bigger guys but fat is just not something I can do. It is shallow but I think most people have that mind set, especially if they are at least trying to keep their weight under control. Like I may not be skinny but I job 3-6 times a week depending on my schedule so I'd like a guy who puts at least some effort in staying in some sort of shape and if you're obese you did kind of ignore keeping your body in shape via exercise and diet for significant amount of time. Very few people realistically feel they have to be with a guy with washboard abs or a girl who is perfectly slender and curvy, but people want to see someone who puts some sort of effort in looking good.
whoops I meant "jog" instead of "job"
If the guy is a bit chubby I don't have a problem with it, if he is obese however, that's letting yourself go a bit too much. If he's made the choice to be like that in stead of taking care of his body he will have to deal with the consequences that come with it. If he's trying to lose weight though I would gladly help him along the journey as long as he's persistent. but in general, a guy who doesn't or is not even willing to take care of his body is not attractive to me.
I think it is a lot more than people appreciate, and a lot more than what people are willing to admit.
Most of what we think is beauty is basically based on weight. I'm not advocating for femine and starvation but how can >30% of women fit under the category of anorexia nervosa?
All I have to say is when I achieve a certain weight target, I find life becomes easier, people friendlier, and you get laid more. It's like having money - people complain that money does not equal happiness, but what people don't say is when you are poor, you don't have a chance.
It haves strong effect, I'm just not attracted to fat girls, even though many of them got pretty faces.
I like curves, but curves also mean thin waist - which they are obviously lacking.
However - the same effect also goes to underweight girls, even if they're pretty, a body which is either morbidly obese or morbidly skinny can't make me hard.

Fat = An ugly body. And maybe an ugly face (overall attractiveness).
If their face is already unattractive and they're chubby, fat, and/or overweight then they're ugly to me.
If their face is attractive and they're fat. Then, they just have an ugly body.
I guess some people can say that it's attractive if they carry it well... I don't think that. It's still fat.
Especially, guys who have fat hanging slightly over their pants. It could make them a 2 when they can possibly be a 7.
Assuming we're not talking extremes here (like so big you can't get around well), I've been attracted to a lot of different body types. I just think diversity is cool.
My girlfriend says that according to the BMI scale, she's considered obese, which is kind of ridiculous to me because I've always associated obese with huuuuuge, and she's perfect to me.
I'm overweight and very self conscious about it, but it doesn't bother me with other people.
Honestly, skinny or fat, I haven't met a person that I actually thought was ugly.
Do I find people unattractive at all, though? Yeah, I do. I'm very picky about mental qualities in people.
Not much at all. Not sure why. I think subconsciously I know that it's hard enough to me to find someone whose personality I like, so their looks become less important in how attraction works for me? A cute face is probably the only thing that has a big impact for me. I could find just about any body type attractive if I'm crazy about them as a person.
I don't think being chubby or a little overweight really makes much of a difference. But when you're obese, even if you do have a pretty face, it's probably going to take the attention away from the good looks you do have.
it lessen their potential attractiveness but not automatically make them ugly
yup fatness affects attractiveness in a negative way
It has one of the biggest effects.
Especially if you are someone who stores fat in their face, you can look completely different when you loose weight.
I can't speak for all guys, but personally it doesn't matter, I think if someone's a little 'chubby' (not in a mean way) it's cute :) but yeah, as long as they're nice and you can talk to them it doesn't matter at all for me! :D Hope it helps :)
It does not make them ugly. The bigger thing for me is I'm an extremely active person so it would make me think they are not as active as I am.
More then any other factor.
i think it makes a difference, definitely.
i think if affects people generally a lot.
Chubby people tend to have cute faces
