Sometimes I can't stop laughing.. even while funerals, am I mentally ill?

Sometimes I burst out laughing and can't stop .. can't help it.

But not in funny situations when everyone does it, but for example while classes , ( teacher says something funny - but it's funny only for me others are silent ) so I go to toilet and there have to calm myself..

But last time I wanted to laughed while funeral I left church and had to laughed outside..

It's not like I wasn't sad because my uncle died, I was ,but I couldn't help it :(

Haha I have this problem too.

Im always the last one laughing. Like if someone says something funny, I'll continue to laugh, even when no one is laughing anymore. Or I laugh at inappropriate times as well.

I read about this somewhere. It doesn't mean you're mentally ill. You're just a happy person and are very optimistic. You see the best in negative situations. in sad situations, its normal to cry, but there are those few who laugh. Not necessarily out of happiness. Its just their immediate reaction to laugh. Sometimes, when I hear terrible news, I smile or laugh, but it doesn't mean I'm happy. Its just my immediate reaction. I think it helps to cope with the information given.

Nah it takes more than than to be mentally ill I'm afraid. I also tend to laugh at inappropriate times but I've learned to develop a sly smirk to cover it up.. took a while to master it. I might just add that I've never laughed at a funeral before. I have only been to a few and they were all people who I loved to death and still miss to this day so I was crying and not laughing.

ryt now I am really laughing out loud...i use to be like this when I was in middle school,but with time it went away...i know how you feel at such situations,... I'll say you are too much optimistic that you even try to feel positive in bad situations which really itself is a gift...You see and analyze things differenty than most of people in a gud way...and one more thing have you ever noticed that your words or suggestions heals depressed people more Quickly...i mean I think you are a natural healer...Am I right or wrong?

Your fine. A lot of times when your in a situation where you aren't suppose to laugh it makes you laugh even more because you keep trying not to. It happened at my grandmothers funeral to. Some small made a couple of my family members laugh even though they felt bad afterward they couldn't help it.

No, but maybe this laughter that you have is a cover up for something.

Maybe you allow yourself to laugh because you feel you are not able to deal with the situation that is presented in front of you.

If you laugh, that means everything is fine and is okay.

It is your coping mechanism to get through things, when they get tough.

I used to get that ALL THE TIME. Especially at funerals, yeah. It's not mental illness, it's just a way of dealing with... Things, I dunno. I guess it's a defence mechanism. It just went away, for me. I didn't even notice it.
