That will definitely help, yes. Assuming you push yourself a tiny bit, it should be good aerobic exercise (keeping your heart-rate up) and will build some muscle in your legs. It might be a good idea to supplement that with some core and upper-body/arm exercises to build some muscle tone in those areas as well. Doing some crunches, and adding some hand-weights while you hike should do that.
Cutting juices, sodas, energy drinks, and that stuff is good; most people have no idea how many empty calories they get that way (a small glass of real juice a day, citrus or cranberry, is good for you though). Drinking more water is also good. Do NOT go hungry, though. Try to eat 4-6 small meals a day, and cut up some fresh fruits or veggies to snack on between meals if you are hungry. You do not want to put your body into starvation/survival mode, because if you increase your exercise and don't eat enough, your body will start to STORE fat in reserve and will burn up your muscles instead, which is the opposite of what you want. Keep your stomach full with water and fresh fruits and veggies, and eat at least two portions of lean protein a day (eggs, fish, or meat). Don't be afraid to eat a treat (candy bar or dessert) once or twice a week, to satisfy those cravings.
Also, don't have unrealistic expectations. The scale is a poor measure of your goal, because part of what you will be doing is converting fat to muscle, and muscle is denser and will weigh more than the fat it replaces, so you might not see much reduction in weight, but you will see a reduction in INCHES - your clothes will start getting to be too big. Yes, you'll lose weight too, but don't be discouraged if the scale number doesn't drop as fast as you'd like. It may well take 18-24 months to get down to 130 and have a kick-ass body, but if you do it the right way, you won't struggle to keep it there more-or-less indefinitely. If you crash diet your way there, you can get there faster, but you'll never stay there, and you risk your health in the process.

You will loos it definitely, going up the hill not only you burning more fat but also you consume a whole lot more oxygen, the higher you go the less oxygen there is meaning that now your body works twice as much than just simple climbing. A little suggestion find a steep hill to climb and smooth one to go down and continue what you do. You will loose it but it takes time months, but with your determination I'm sure by the next summer you can loose more than 40 pounds no doubt. Just remember those things take time and don't over do it, you want to stay healthy too.
I was 182 pounds and got to 115 by cutting out simple sugars like bread and chocolate. Eating more protein. Running a lot cos you need to raise your heartbeat to get a good fat burn. Aerobic exercise like hiking is good cos it builds strength but that alone won't help. Cardio is the way to go. I used to run 15k every other day. Oh and one thing you should avoid like the plague is mayonnaise. 2 tablespoon is like 200 calories or something!

Sounds like a good way to lose weight to me. Though you may need to hike up and down it two or more times if you hit a plateau and can't seem to lose anymore weight. I've lost 38 pounds in 2 months and 3 weeks simply by cutting 500 calories from my diet and doing a walk jog mix for an hour each day.
should, depending how much exercise you do. hill climbing is great, same with biking. all I do is ride my bike an iam in pretty good shape and I walked quite a bit
Unless you're running to improve your time, no.
