What does it take to be held back a grade?

Out of curiosity :if a student in high school ends the year with good passing grades but two 67%s in two subjects will they have to repeat those courses in their next grade level? 67% isn't really considered passing

Nope, i had (D) 67 % and they told me even 60% is passing with below average
and they aren't allowed to make you make them courses or hold you back
keep your chin up !!! In High School i had one of the most ugliest grades
and even in Middle School and they never held me back :/

In high school, it's more of not getting enough credits to be considered so and so. If you need those two classes to graduate you will have to retake them.

Cousin passed eighth grade with two Ds so I'm curious if that works in high school. But I think you do technically take the next grade level you just repeat those failed courses , or am I mistaken?

It depends on the amount of credits you have. Your grade in high school is entirely based off of credits. You can't compare eighth grade with high school. D's kill your GPA so it may be in your best interest to retake.

There's no failing the entire year in high school. There's only failing class. You have to have a certain amount of credits to be considered a sophmore, and certain amount to be considered a junior, and a certain amount to be considered a senior. Each class is a certain amount of credits. Lets say you're a freshman for instance, If you don't pass enough class to get the allotted credits to be considered sophmore, you'll still be considered a freshman. It's not like elementary or middle school where if you fail the whole grade, you have to take all the classes over again. You continue on but you have to retake the class that you failed if you need them to graduate.

But if you take 10th grade classes and one or two repeated classes how do they still consider you a freshman? Does that mean they'll put u in the freshman section of the yearbook lol😂 that doesn't quite make sense

You can take "10th grade" classes as a 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grader. They're only called 10th grade classes because people usually take them their sophomore year of high school. You can be a senior taking a "9th grade" class but you're still a senior.

It varies depending on the school, the administrator, and the reason. If you WANT to be held back, your parents can just request it. If you don't, then have your parents go in and fight it.
