I'd like to put it this way. Women are considered to be more emotional and sensitive, hence when they are in tears, are depressed or even have suicidal tendencies, people sympathize with them and usually offer a lot of help and support. But if a man is in the same situation, people just snub him by saying 'You're a man, you have to be strong emotionally'. So, his trauma is pretty much ignored, and he hardly gets any help or support. So he ultimately chooses suicide to put an end to his misery.
