10 Overused Words and Terms That Desperately Need to be Retired

1. Creep

The word creep is overused and used out of context like crazy. This word is mostly used by women but some men do also use it. For example: A man approaches a woman and the woman says he is a "creep" just because he is ugly. NO! that is not what a creep is. That is just a woman that does not want to admit looks matter to her. A creep is a man or woman that won't take no for an answer after being told to leave you alone, a person that finds out your personal details without you giving them out or a person that stalks you. It is not a person you simply find ugly. Men and women can both be creeps.

2. Slut/Whore

These words are mostly used by men to women and women to other women. Women do not normally use these words towards men. It is a woman's business how many men she has sex with. It is up to her and people do not have the right to "slut shame" her. People should mind their own business.

3. Fuckboy

It is the term used towards men that have sex with a lot of women. Women are the biggest users of this word towards men. Like I said about women it is a man's business how many women he has sex with. A woman has no right to try and shame him because he has had a lot of sex.

4. Pig

Women use this mostly towards men. It is offensive and many men get called pigs that do not deserve to be. If a man does or says something you do not agree with that does not automatically mean he is a pig. There is always two sides to every story.

5. Bitch

Women are mostly on the receiving end of this word from both men and women. Just because a woman does not agree with you or does something you don't agree with does not automatically mean she is a bitch. People that use this term and the term pig weaken their argument.

6. Misogyny/Misogynist

This word is mostly used by women towards men. You see women using it all the time on GAG. If a man actually does hate all women then he is a misogynist but he is not a misogynist just from pointing out something that women do or because he has stated some proven fact.

7. Gay

Many people say this to describe something or someone they do not like. It is actually offensive towards gay and lesbian people. We need to stop using it and actually use the correct words to describe things we don't like. "Gay" is not the word to do this and it should not be used in this way.

8. Nice guy

Men and women both use this word. It is often used in a bad way. Saying things like "nice men" are only nice to get sex out of women or nice men are assholes is offensive to actual honest nice men. Nice means nice nothing else. Therefore, the word nice should not be linked with the bad men you are talking about in anyway.

9. Racist/Sexist

Not everything a person says about a group of people is racist or sexist. There are some things that are just fact and ways of thinking that a particular type of person or gender will be more likely to be like. Sure there are things that are racist or sexist but at the same time some people are way too sensitive and think everything is racist or sexist.

10. Real Men or Real Women

This is often used to try and shame people that don't agree or like to do things differently than you do. A real man or real woman is a man or woman that does what he or she wants with their life not what others say they should do.

Overall I agree with this take. I don't mind most of those words as long as they are being used appropriately. Overall though, they are over used as a way to shame other people unfairly. I don't have a problem with someone using those words if they are actually true, but I would say that the majority of they time they aren't being used properly.

Totally agree with you on all of this.
I've been called (most of the time I didn't deserve it) a bitch so many times that I call myself one, I'll write on my cup at parties 'that bitch' instead of my name and stuff like that. I do it to become desensitized to the word, and so no one has any power over me when they call me a bitch. It works, because people have stopped calling me one (a lot of the time they do it as an unfunny joke) and when they do say it, it doesn't bother me, I'll just say 'yeah, I am a bitch'.
But it's all a bit sad that I have to do this to begin with.

Yeah I agree these words have lost their meaning I've been called bitch and slut so many times now I just think of it as a compliment or the typical thing narcissists do which is saying that the people that try to downgrade you are just jealous. Same reason as word number eleven listed above. I use the word "press" as a substitute for that reason. Very difficult to find a viable synonym as encapsulating as word number 12, but damn that word is so overused by people trying to sound smart. :-/
