I just switched jobs and a couple of months ago and I started to get closer to this guy that I work with. We are the same age and have the same job title. At first, our relationship was just work related and we barely spoke about ourselves personally, but after having to spend more and more time together we started to get more comfortable with each other. We talk all the time now and have exchanged phone numbers.
We joke around and tease each other all the time. He's constantly making jokes or teasing me, whether its just me and him or if other coworkers are around. We talk about about our lives outside of work and we've discovered that we have so much in common and if I tell him something about myself, he'll remember it and will even bring it up or ask me about it on a different day. I've noticed that that while I'm working, he always finds a reason to walk past me, even if I'm not in the same place I was in earlier or he find excuses to come talk to me or tell me something funny. Also, without me asking he'll come by and help me with something if he sees me struggling or just wants to lend a hand, even though he could find other things to do.
Sometimes while we are joking around he'll say things like "you know you have fun when you're working with me" or " I'm sure you'd be upset if I wasn't here". Another male coworker that he's friendly with will sometimes tease just me or the both of us about us flirting and bickering all the time. That coworker is also really close with him so I feel like he would know more about what he's thinking. I confided in another coworker I'm friendly with about the situation, and she said that in the five years she's worked with him, he's never acted like this with another female coworker.
I'm unsure about this because I can't tell if he truly likes me or if flirting with me is just a way to pass time at work. When we text each other, sometimes ill initiate the conversation or he will and we will be flirting for a while about something and then he'll just end the conversation abruptly by not texting back. Also we've been alone enough times at work where there was a perfect opportunity for him to ask me to hang out and he just hasn't. He is honestly the most confusing person! Please help? Does he like me? I'm nervous to do something because we work together, but Is there something I should do?
