Why would a guy send flowers after a break up but not talk to you?

I've been seeing a guy for a few months, we were not officially a couple.

Although he was always really nice to me, since the beginning I felt he had high walls up and was very closed off and reserved.

When I try to talk about where things are going or even just generic questions to get to know him I notice he gets frustrated and anxious and shuts down.

It turns into a fight even when I try to explain that isn't my intention.

After some time now even though he said he wanted us to work etc, I ended things last weekend after the same issues keep arising. He has a habit of shutting down and just going silent for days then acting like nothing happened.

After he did that yet again, I decided to send him a message to end things as I have tried talking in person and at that stage he was shut down and not talking to me.

I explained that I enjoyed our time together and that I love and care for him but I haven't been feeling like myself around him lately and I felt we were drifting apart.

I also said that I don't think we understand eachother or want the same things and that I felt like a burden to him when I express my feelings needs/wants and it is hurtful.

I explained that I wanted to end things civilly and that I hope he finds someone better for him.

I did see he read the message but never said a word.

A few days later on v day he send roses to my house.

I did thank him for the flowers and he said I'm welcome but that's it.

I guess I'm just confused by that abit. I know he does not need to day a word to me about the ending, but I don't understand why he sent flower's and now hasn't spoken to me since.

Can someone please help me understand as feel horrible but I don't understand the mixed messages here 🙃

You sometimes just can't make sense of things. His words don't match his behaviour... I would move one, as you said you didn't see a future and if you're already arguing early on in the relationship, it's likely not going to get better. It's hard but ruminating won't make you understand this just stress you out!

Sounds pretty weird probably to get the guilt off of their shoulders. but they should feel guilty about ignoring you.
