Why is my ex ghosting me when he’s the one that cheated?

I split up with my ex and we were working on things, he made it clear he wanted to be together etc, he was sexting me and he even discussed moving back in together. I found out he had a girlfriend and I confronted him. So technically he was cheating on her with me and trying to get me back (I didn’t know about this girl until I found out and confronted him). He said nothing and disappeared.

I even tried to be “nice”, even said I just wanted closure and wished him well (even though he doesn’t deserve it) but I hoped he’d maybe just say something and that would be it but nope. He’s completely ghosting me like I don’t exist even though he’s the one that’s done the dirty!! Why is he doing this to me? How can someone do that to someone? None of it makes sense. We use to live together, he still lives in what was our house, and while we were working on things, when I said for example “oh it would be nice with these curtains in the living room”, the style I planned for the house he added those exact designs after we split and were working things out and he’d always show me photos etc. My head is just spinning, why is he doing this?

Thank you so much. This really helps. That’s what I thought in a way, I tried to be nice but he’s just acting like I don’t exist and it hurts. You are right though, I sent a very long message to him just now (not mean, just kindness). More like a letter of closure to me. I got my feelings off my chest and if he doesn’t reply at least it’s my own closure and I can now start to heal and let go for myself!

If he's cheating on you, that was basically him already ghosting you. He did it in a horrible way but, he was basically saying, I'm done

He doesn’t want face the consequences of his actions so he’s just pretending you don’t exist to minimize his own stress.

You’d think if a guy has been cheating on a girl with with his ex, that he isn’t over his ex which is extremely wrong (again I didn’t know). So to me I’m just extremely puzzled
