One year after break up, my ex finally blocked me. Have no idea why.

Soon after blocking me he changed his social media name that I picked for him, that was the nickname I created for him and the name that I used for addressing him, I always thought till he kept that name, part of him still kept thinking of me, even though he is in a new relationship.

he finally changed that name into his real name and for the first time in two years he updated his profile photo.

Why did he Change his name, updated his profile photo after 2 years of inactivity and blocked me after 1 year of break up - at the same time?

Was blocking me somehow the part of his new identity? Why was I so disruptive to him? I was just by myself, posting some beautiful photos of mine.

Also, I don’t go out of my way to see his profile.

On Wechat, I still have him on my contacts and unless I unfriend him too, he will be on my contacts list and I am able to see his profile.

It’s just we are no longer friends and we cannot see each other’s posts.

Also, he has 2 other Wechat accounts and he is friends with me on both of them. I think he unfriended me on his main account cause his new girlfriend was jealous of him being able to see my posts and pictures.

He moved on before. He just didn't update his profile, which to some people is essentially the same as a resume. I didn't update my resume for 3 years. I got my current job and forgot to update it to the last one that I was at for 2 years. I haven't changed my email address in 20 years. If I do it tomorrow maybe I was just tired of being on all the spam mailing lists, not because I have or have not moved on from the litany of exes who have that address. Could have hit my inbox limit and just wanted a clean sweep. There's too many unquantifiable interceding variables here to really draw any sort of correlation, much less attribute causation when it comes to why he changed his profile then.

You can't know the answers to these questions for sure but moving on and letting this part of your life go is important. Constantly bringing up your ex and wondering what he's thinking or why he's doing these things don't matter anymore. It's over a year so it's very possible he's moved on and realizes being friends isn't feasible when you're in a new relationship. You have no idea if it has anything to do with this new girlfriend (well you haven't stated that you know that) but again none of this matters. Break ups take time to move on but at different rates for everyone. A good indication is being in a new relationship.

Yeah obviously.. He could've blocked you the whole time but he's only doing it now.. and changing the username just adds to it.. even if he's just updating his account, you obviously had a place in his mind he decided to remove anything related to you.. I'm guessing he's a little salty!

He also updated the profile photo that he had years ago and hasn’t used for 5 years. That’s the photo he had when he first added me.

Seems like he wants to clear these 5 years and return to himself before he met me.

I doubt it was his own choice. I suspect either his new girlfriend or his mom after you cut her off. She does have a lot of control over him.
