Girl is great in person, but she sucks at texting?

Long story short I met a really cute girl at the salon my mom works at. We got a long really great flirted and etc. We share a lot of common interests. The next time I got my haircut from her two weeks later, I got her phone number as it was her last day at that location. I told her we would keep in touch, and she told me she would continue giving me haircuts as well. So I texted her and she responded quickly and the conversation went okay, except her responses are usually only 5 to 10 words, and I feel like I have to do keep it going. Anyways we continue texting and I meet her a couple weeks later in her new salon to get my haircut, and we kick it off again really well! She drove me to her house afterwards, and we hung out. I met her family and had a lot of fun. At the end she gave me a tight/close hug that lasted 10-15 seconds, and she seemed really happy when she was with me. We also established that we would hang out again. But now she is just being boring in her texts again. She is usually at work when we text, or busy with something else. I cut the conversation short with her the other day, because I was running errands, and her last response was OK be safe. I feel I am probably overthinking this, but what do you think? Does texting really matter in this situation? Because everything is okay in person. Am I overthinking it? Please give your opinion! Also I might mention, I suck at texting too in the sense I don't always reply very quickly at all, but other than that I try to keep the conversation going and send longer texts than her.

I'm dealing with the same with a guy I like. I texted him a lot and his responses were really short (word wise). He also has a dry sense of humor so I feel like my jokes go over his head. I person we click like nobody's business though so I just keep reminding myself that he's just not a texting type. The person to person contact is much more important anyway. :)

Some people must just really not be testers. I like how you said you always have to remind yourself that it is what is in person that matters the most. It is hard sometimes though when texting is so convenient. Things get misinterpreted all the time, but thank you for sharing your point of view!

I think you should give her some space and allow her to text. Don't overthink it until she completely ignores you for no valid reason then you should reassess the situation. Otherwise, keep yourself busy and call her out to hang out more.

I agree. I've only ever initiated texts to her 3 times. She tends to reply very quickly, and she initiated the conversation two of those times, one of them was a good morning text, but her conversations don't really get anywhere. Perhaps it is just her style of texting, but I am just giving her space and not acting overly eager (because I am not), and I am instead trying to think of things we could do together. I just hate the whole texting game haha.

I'm more old school and love seeing people in person or having phone calls. It's hard to decipher someone's intentions over texting which we have overused in this generation. We connect and disconnect with people faster than we blink because of our options. Give it time and maybe she's waiting for you to call or initiate something.

I agree. This generation is so focused on digital media and texting that it can be very hard to decipher the emotion and intention behind a text. I feel that face to face interactions matter most, because the true emotion and feeling is present. I just need more face time with her, and spending time with her in person. I want to keep it casual for now though. I also want to tread lightly, because I have been hurt in the past, and I don't want to screw this one up.

Yes, I feel the same as you I really have to be careful because a lot of people aren't as invested or genuine nowadays.
