Why is he suddenly showing interest?

I met a guy at a bar, one night stand, then dated/had sex several times, but we were mostly each other's late night booty calls. I wanted more tough, but I didn't show any sign of this. Then he disappeared for 2 weeks, no contact at all, then reappeared. He texted me in the middle of the night, I didn't answer anything. I let him go and I didn't think about him. A few days later we attended a festival, we met during the night, but nothing happened. One night I texted him to come to the area where I was, but he didn't answer so I was dancing and kissing an other guy. A few hours later he went there and saw me leaving with that other man. The next day we texted each other and he told me he saw me with him.. Since then he is super responsive, asking a lot of questions, says sweet things, we are having witty, enjoyable conversations. He invited me on a romantic date too. Before that, he never answered me only after a day or so, never asked anything or invited me anywhere...
