So I have been texting a really lovely guy that I met on Tinder for about a week now. We have never met in person but have been texting quite a lot for the last week.
He lives about an hour away from me but we have been getting on so well that he suggested coming over next weekend to cook me dinner. I've honestly never even heard of a situation like this so I have no idea what it means.
I had kind of brushed Tinder aside with the assumption that guys are just looking to get you into bed but is this different? Or have I just got my hopes too high?

I would recommend going to a public place at first. That is the general and logical thing to do untill you are comfortable enough with that person. But dating apps would be like the "jump in the bed" type of thing rather than a serious relationship
