Guys, Was this a date? Is he Interested in me? Could this just be as friends?

So I met him in October and I thought he was cute so I asked for his snap. The next day I posted something on my story and he replied to it and then we just started talking continually about different stuff. I needed help with a topic in history and he suggested that we have a study session at school. So we have that and it was fun ( we really didn’t even studied lol). The end of it he says that “we should get a bite to eat” and then I said for sure and then he hugged me. We also had another study session and we also FaceTime too once. We got to know each other more and he also told me so very personal stuff very quick. Fast forward to our “date” or hangout I don't know. We met at Chick-Fil-A to have lunch. First thing he did was hug me,(and he smelled like cologne) and then opened the door for me as we went in the restaurant. We were ordering and I got the chicken nuggets. And he asked me “you sure you don’t want the meal?” and I was confused that he asked that. This was because he was going to pay for me. So I said No Thank you. So we sit down and eat and talk. We also laughed a lot. So he tells me that he still hasn’t gotten a present for his mom, so fortunately there was a Ross across the lot. So I helped him get a jacket for his mom. He had to leave soon. So he said he had fun with me and that we should go to the movies next vSo I So was this a date? And is he interested in me? Does he see me a just a friend? ( by the way I’m 16 he’s 17)
