Can a guy do these things but still be interested in you?

I’ve been talking to this guy for a few weeks now. One thing that concerned me initially about him was how short his replies usually are. He doesn’t really start much of a conversation over text but I met him in person last week and he’s completely different in person. Our date went well from what I could tell and we talked a lot and laughed. He did invite me out again and this time he invited me out with him and his friends which is supposed to happen tomorrow. However in the past day he seems to be a little more distant than usual, he usually texts me on his work breaks but last night I didn’t hear from him. I know he gets super busy and tired because he works a lot of hours, I just don’t know if I’m overthinking the whole thing or if I should take that as a sign that he’s no longer interested. So my questions are, can a guy be dry over text but still be interested in a girl? Is him inviting me out with his friends a sign I’m in the friend zone?

I think that, in this case, it sounds like he's the type of person who is just better at face to face interaction rather than over the phone. Some people just don't spend a ton of time on their phones. Additionally, these people tend to be drier texters because they feel disconnected from the person (s) they're talking to.

I personally believe that the interest and excitement he showed you in person is the baseline you should be going off of. And him introducing you to his friends is a good sign.
