After first date - is he interested or just being nice?

I went on a first date last night with a guy I met on Tinder. We had really good texting conversation back and forth before we met, and sure enough - we had loots to talk about during our date.

I figured we'd just order a glass of wine each and chat - but when he ordered a whole bottle to share. I took that as a good sign - thinking he at least thought I was attractive enough to stay there for a while. :p After 3 hours, he asked what the time was and I asked whether we should leave. He suggested to take a walk in the area. So we walked for a bit - and then we hugged at the end.

I've never been so unsure after a first date - after my last three first dates, the guys texted the same night or the morning after and were really eager to get together again soon. I didn't hear from this guy that same night, so I texted him the next morning and said it was nice meeting him etc... something I *never* do. He replied an hour later with something clever from the night before and said it was really nice to meet me too and asked what my plans are for the weekend (he's travelling anyway, so it's not like he was gonna ask me out).

So - my question is - could he just be replying to be nice, since he hasn't asked me out on a second date? I mean, he's travelling for the next 4 days so that *could* be the reason... but like I said, in my experience guys are always really eager and much more flirtacious! He's 35 and I'm 27 if that helps :)
