Guys walking out on toxic women on first dates, leaving them with the bill?

I've seen a few stories lately about guys saying they walked out in the middle of a first date. Claims were that the woman started playing with her phone, acting obnoxious with the staff, etc, and the guy just gets up and walks off, settles up his portion of the bill, and leaves her there to deal with her bill. Would you consider this extreme? Or just having standards?

If she's already acting toxic, just walk

At least stick out one date

Only acceptable in extreme situations. If she checks her phone a few times, gets a little snippy with the waiter, or otherwise shows subtle red flags it’s an overreaction and he should just get through the date and never see her again if he doesn’t want to. Walking out on a date is only okay if she did something totally inappropriate, like force herself on him or scream at him.

Extreme situations like my favorite from the article I linked... "Matched with her on a dating app and we bonded over our shared love of food. She mentioned not having gone to any good restaurants in town so I decided to take her to a really nice place, as I had just got my tax rebate and could afford a £200 meal. She talked with me and was engaged right up to when she ordered her food: an appetiser, wine, dinner, a second dinner for lunch the next day and dessert. After her order was placed she took out her phone and spent the next 20 minutes just browsing Instagram while I tried to talk with her. I excused myself to the bathroom and instead talked to the waitress. I got her to cancel my meal and dessert - I had only had my appetiser at that point. I paid what I owed and the 20% tip for the whole thing and then left. My phone blew up about five minutes later when the waitress told her what was up."

I tend to fall in the 'stick it out' camp myself. But I've never been in a situation where someone wasn't at least pleasant company for an hour.

Most people are actively trying to make a good impression on a first date so if she's toxic ate her "best" then you probably wanna fuck off as soon as possible. I'd probably settle the whole bill but I'd be out.

I never have a first date at a fancy place so the total bill will be under $50. I will stick it out but end it early.
