I never went into a date feeling like it was an interview. It was just a matter of deciding if we liked each other and got along well enough to go on another date. It wasn't like scrutinizing someone's qualifications for employment. No carefully crafted resumes. That would be cynical, calculating and off putting. First of all, a potential employer is in a position of power and authority.
Getting to know someone isn't the same as an interview, at least not for me. Getting to know someone takes time. There isn't pressure. As you do things together and maintain communication, you gradually learn more and more about each other's personalities, preferences, attitudes, behaviors, habits, likes and dislikes. You either grow closer together or drift apart.
Yeah, that makes sense about you. I know you don't like statistics, etc., but I find it interesting how men in the poll are more pro-date and women are less so (women are still voting for a date, but narrowly.)
Why do you think that I don't like statistics? That's interesting. I find statistics very illuminating and useful. Granted, stats can be manipulated by people who have certain agendas. But I often do research and compile my own in order to gain perspective on certain issues.
Yes, the difference between male and female responses is interesting. However, the majority of women did choose "date" by a margin of 23/14. Guys 35/12. I'd like to see a study on why men feel more pressure being interviewed for employment.
The monthly salary, or biweekly paycheck in my case, is a reward for working. I didn't get paid to attend the interview, and I may not have gotten the job as a result of the interview. Similarly, a date does not guarantee intimacy. This is a fact backed by personal experience. While my actions on some dates were rewarded with intimacy, it wasn't the date that achieved it; it was me.
The neglected objective of my question was to point out the similarities between the two. For example, both are an opportunity to spin the plates and allow the other party to determine your eligibility for the position to which you are applying. Here's the difference, though. While one is an opportunity to initiate an income that costs you nothing, the other is an investment of time and, in most cases, money that will also not necessarily result in the desired outcome.
Saying that a time and place "may" do something for you is still entirely incorrect. It's the series of actions that have causality, not the scheduled event. I won't deny my pessimism, but it is still irrelevant to the technical point. It's actually always the case with optimism vs pessimism. Pessimism and optimism are only points of view. They don't affect the reality of any given situation.

I’d rather go on a date because I never actually been on a date before
Dates are fun.

You said something like that on a comment once. I forget where. Maybe you didn't use the word 'statistics' though.
Being more financially stable is better than any other person in your life.
