Over and over and over I hear black women complaining that men who are black dont date them. Well who is in the gym making sure they look sexy? These black men are dating women who are fit and looking good. Where are black women in these gyms?

Because most black women don’t real have the means to go to the gym regularly. And The ones who do exercise regularly don’t like gyms. We rather exercise at home or jog in the neighborhood (if it’s safe). I’ve definitely noticed a rise in athletic black women though, at least in my generation.
Also I want to give some context as to why the obesity rates amongst black women are so high in comparison to other women. The obesity rates are so high due to culture, poverty and Americas food options. Culturally The black community has always praised big women. Huge hips, huge thighs, huge butt. Was the standard for so long and you can’t really achieve that naturally without getting big everywhere else. The other biggest reason is poverty. The black community has been poverty stricken for all of its existence. Many people who live in poverty fall victim to obesity regardless of race. Black women being in poverty more often than the other races of women contributes heavily to us having higher obesity rates. This brings us to the food available for lower class black women. Fast food, cheap market food, frozen food, canned fruit over fresh fruit, frozen vegetables over fresh vegetables. The food options they have to choose from is limited so they kinda have to have shit diets. So all in all it’s black women’s current standing in society that contributes the most to the obesity rates. If you haven’t noticed the few of us black women who grew up in middle or upper class typically have smaller builds. We weren’t exposed to black culture like that, we grew up near cultures that preferred slim figures, and we had access to better food, plus we had the privilege of having time to exercise if we wanted to, unlike lower class teens who typically have to take on adults responsibilities.
And side note: It’s not the over weight black women complaining about not getting black men. Because some how they always got themselves a black man. Black men seem to gravitate to fat women of all races. I hardly ever see black men with fit women, even in countries with lower obesity rates. The black women complaining usually say black men turn them down not for their size but for their complexion or Afro centric features.
I somewhat agree, black men do find wider hips attractive so women tend to balance having a wider frame over a smaller one. But diabetes isn’t worth men finding you attractive.
I’m pretty sure fellow black women aren’t saying they can’t get men because of that, I’m not going to speak over plus size black women since I’m not plus size myself and know they go threw many different struggles I cannot and will most likely never understand.
But if I’m not mistaken most of the time black women are saying they can’t get a man is because of either no one finding our ethnic features attractive or people trying to racially fetishize us. Since we live in a world that constantly bashes black women for literally anything, especially dark skin black women who are constantly being compared to men for no reason whatsoever but to defemenize them in an attempt to suit this narrative that “black women don’t need to be protected” because their “animals, ghetto, etc”
That’s what the majority of black women are talking about when they say it’s hard to date, and for black women that are plus size they have to deal with all of that plus the fact that their body isn’t the standard of beauty.

Depending on where you live, only 14% of the population is considered Black/African American. For example, where I live, it's almost 3%.
I'm blessed that there are a lot of gorgeous women of different backgrounds. But I rarely saw them work out.
When I went to the gym - and I went at different times (preferred evenings/late nights) my guess is that women probably had other stuff going on when I liked to work out. Or it could be that we have 10 gyms/fitness centers in addition to the women's only centers, yoga places, city facilities, etc. Also, a lot of jobs are adding fitness centers as a perk. Then there are those who do it at home... or jog on nearby trails and parks... Then there's women blessed with amazing metabolisms who only have to work out on occasion. So I wouldn't necessarily expect to see a lot of women at my gym, though I DID notice that it always seemed to be a LOT more dudes than what I would have originally thought.
In my state, we're almost always in the top twenty obese states. Usually in the top ten. So there's a lot of obese people I don't bother looking at or particularly noticing. though We do have a good population of what I would consider "gorgeous women" of all races.
It's exactly because of people like lizzo or the common representation of a black woman being fat whether in movies or videogames or anywhere else. They've grown to belive that this is ok because its some kind of choice. I don't see why anyone would chose back pain, short breath, heart problems among all kinds of health issues associated with weight.
I won't speak on if it's attractive or not but it's unhealthy and promoting it is same as promoting suicide

I just asked myself this question in the gym the other day as to why (when I had a BW sighting complete with bonnet) they’re aren’t many? And there is that “hair” thing, too….😆 Proper nutrition can be a situational issue where money in concerned, agreed. My wife occasionally does the “fit thing” at 200 lbs on avg. Thats how I married her. We talk about it but I don’t push her. There’s years… beyond our time together “in damage done” by her personal contact with other humans. Family etc. Most of us carry this, somewhere, in our psyche.
UNLESS WE WERE RAISED IN A NURTURING ENVIRONMENT. Game changer.

She and I come from the alternative upbringing of “my way or the Highway” within parents quoting such jewels as “ you’ll never amount to anything” on a consistent basis. Fast forward 20,30,40 + years. We’re just trying to operate in our self manufactured mode of survival…. Not rainbows and butterflies. Excercise is one where it’s MY counselor. It helps me deal. Her thing is different and we ride like that. She gains fulfillment from supporting our kids in various pursuits. She works as well as myself and I make effort to handle my side of choring. Yes. We share this crap lol. All this said, I’m sure someone will come for me over the fact that “big Mama” was always sitting so here comes a learned behavior from a beloved relative. When we’re 5, we don’t see how she busted her ass for decades. We just see the sitting. Fast forward a few generations to our current and we’re sitting from example. Shit cheap food that purposely causes hormonal and insulin issues to feed the medical business. This isn’t one person having an issue getting off the couch. It’s where the elites want everyone …getting fat and getting sick. How we personally choose to alter that path is our own very personal war. Regardless of how any of us feel about it. I work out all the time and fitness is my hobby.. however I'm not obsessed with physical beauty. I also have the funds and the freedom to do what I wish bc im married and if im not home with my daughter someone is. I work independently as a real estate broker. Lets look at the other side now. I know someone who has two young boys.. she's over weight and works a ton to take care of her children bc one of the dads killed himself in front of her and the other father thinks bis 250.00 a month for child support is helping. So, if you want to get to the root.. let's get to the base of. a lot of these overweight women are single moms trying to make a living.. working so hard to make ends meat that they are exhausted n going to the gym is the last thing on their radar. The woman I speak of genuinely wants to go to the gym but who's gonna watch her boys? By the time she takes a train n bus home and make dinner.. its 830 at night.. n she wakes at 530 in the morning to get the kids to daycare before she has to be at work. Her job was destroyed by covid so she works for 18 an hour. She is blind in one eye so, she isn't able to get a license. Your question is very ignorant. If you're a black man then look at black statistics. Im not even American born and im of mixed race and I have common sense to do so. Look at the average black family then ask this question to yourself again. Are u trying to get your white card or white street cred by downing black women when you know very well that its more to it than just being overweight n wanting someone to love them. Im 5'7 and a size 4 in jeans.. im still called too skinny by men, black men in particular. Well, im married to a white woman.. so those opinions don't matter. But what I can tell u is, healthy food cost more too.. I've never been a big eater however, even for me it's expensive to eat bc fresh veggies and those home made meals cost a ton of money. Maybe these women can't afford the grocery bill. This is not the right platform to ask a question that criticizes black people... u and I both know this 🙄
when i was young, being poor meant being skinny. Chasing kids all day used to make you skinny. I think the problem might be not putting the fork down and having too many modern machines that take the work out of chasing kids around like dishwashers and washing machines and pre cut potatoes, etc.
Well these days, being poor means processed foods n working so hard that you're too tired to even run around n play with your kids. Keep in mind, a lot of women are emotional eaters.
The reason im so passionate about this topic is bc the person I'm referring to is my sister.. n I don't think she needs to be avoided.. she just needs a break. She's been through a lot in life. Everyone has issues... she's good to the men she's dated but her self esteem is in the dumpster so, she isn't good to herself.
Maybe it hasn't been a culturally stressed thing because black men were always doing manual labor, so they stayed fit and black women were working inside homes NOT doing manual labor. Grandmothers and mothers didn't stress physical fitness. Also people who are poor do not have gym memberships and if no one in their families gardens, bicycles, takes walks, lift weights or uses online exercise videos, what examples do they have to emulate? Has Lizzo been big her whole life? Are her parents big? That's part of it too. It's a combination of a lot of history. Black people were slaves and were denied freedom and luxury. They've also not had access to nutritionists and lifestyle support others have enjoyed. Fast food, sugary soft drinks are cheap. In a few states they're taxed so they're expensive, and few people drink them. It's a health tax. We need more of that. Fatty food tax. Fast food tax. Why should unhealthy food be cheap and vegetables expensive! It's crazy!
Michelle McDaniels would be the person to ask. She is a black fitness youtuber and she says all of her family is fat. But from what I know it’s because they are more likely to be essential workers and essential workers have stupid schedules so I’m assuming a less steady eating schedule and like a lot less time to go to the gym. Plus the food is usually fattier , they put a lot of different cheeses , eggs and crumbs on baked macaroni, and they usually do bacon on the collard greens too , and the candied yams are usually sweet.
I was an essential worker for a while and schedules were crazy almost inhuman. but actually i keept fit... is just to know your brain will trick you in to get more food that the one you need. so there is when you have to excersise discipline the most.
I just left the retail space and I’m going on an exercise plan. I also wasn’t able to cook because my asshat roomate was a slob. The thing is that I think a lot of them were also mothers , and being a single mother is additional stress and more duties.

Black men’s expectations aren’t unrealistic. You want black women to have huge asses, big tits, extreme curves and then you are surprised they either need surgery or aren’t healthy. The girls who go to the gym are too “white looking” for you and ones who don’t are fat and like your mum.
It’s not fair. You are searching for the black porn star and real life isn’t like that. A partner is enjoying their company, not the dimensions of their ass.

Going anon for this question. Maybe it's because you're going to the wrong gyms, or it's your location. Because I assure you some of us love hitting the gym and looking good.
I'm a black female, fairly fit, and exercise regularly. Up until this epidemic, I practically lived at the gym! Now I primarily workout at home. I recently bought myself a new weight rack so I can do more strength training at home. I will say this much: it is rare to see black women at gyms and I have no idea why that is! I like being in shape and healthy.
I always assumed it's because society assumes black women are supposed to be "curvy," or thick. It's sad that black women I work with think I'm "too small," whereas women of other ethnicities think I look healthy.
I stopped going to the gym, lmao. And when I do, I use a private gym. I'm a fan of at home workouts so just because you don't see us at the gym, doesn't mean we're sitting on our asses stuffing our face. I've had Black females on my track team that exercised everyday with me, but were still overweight according to their BMI. Same for dancers that exercise everyday as well.
How were they overweight based on bmi? Really the only anomalies are from body builders who have so much muscle they’d be considered overweight but runners are no where near that point. What were they built like? I also run track and Im no where near overweight from BMI
Never went to the gym because its boring and never really needed to because I've always been naturally muscular. I'm actually trying to gain weight at the moment.
I've encountered thousands of women like me and personally I've found Latina and Caucasian women to be the fat and obese women.
Most of my white girlfriends would complain saying black girls don't have to do anything to be fit.
In Canada, it's mainly Caribbean black women and we don't have the obesity issues that you find in the States. Our diet tends to be more on the fresh fruits and nutient-dense food side and not processed crap.

The statistic may be correct, but then how do you account for the black women who DO workout and can't find dates. What's the problem there. If the only reason it seems black women can't get dates is they are fat according to you, then you would actually need to explain why the other percentage who are busting their ass are still considered at the bottom of the totem pole by a lot of races.
Just because bodies are build differently don't give anyone the right to judge.
You can't compare white girls and black girls.
People have Genes that was passed on. One of my best black African female friends, is having body issues because she is having big boobs and huge ass. she eats healthy, like extremely healthy and then you get a white girl who eats take out everyday and literally have no ass and barely boobs. People are build differently
also the way of eating is very different

The main reason that you don't see black women working out at gym... is because they feel they would be judged. Rather than trying to push over-weight women into thinking that they actually have to go to a gym to lose weight... just makes it that much harder for them to actually do cardio exercises in the privacy of their own home.
It is also much easier for these women to accept their weight and be perfect targets to make money of off. The clothing lines have jumped on the bandwagon by carrying specific items that are targeted to them. Hey fat chicks have money and they will do whatever they can to take it from you.

It is because black men literally worship fat, out of shape black women. I see these women all the time with huge fat rolls and a blob of a body that women of other races would try to cover up as much as possible in public. These women all wear very tight clothes and proudly show off that wreck of a body. Black guys will walk past and stop and go, "Damn girl! You thicc as a MF!". These women know they don't need to waste time working out. A black woman who is in shape and goes to the gym can't compete with these heavyweights.
I am not saying all black men are like this, but enough of them are that overweight black women wearing tight clothes will get more attention from black men than a woman built like Halle Berry.
I always thought carrying extra weight was seen as attractive in black culture. Coming from places where food isn't always reliable It demonstrates a women comes from a good family capable of putting food on the table.
It depends. black people belong to an African diaspora that cintains many different cultures within it. East African cultures and Arab-African cultires have a high appreciation for big women. This has a lot more to do with the Arab taste for big women. While less so in Central Africa where people tend to be more toned so to say "in black cultire" is a massive generalization that misses the mark.
HOWEVER, there has een a shift and the athletic silhouette has gained major traction in these areas. In Caribbean culture I can say being bigger or fat is considered less attractive.
Black men on average aren't big fans of hyper thin women, we do prefer more voluptuous ladies, we call it them "thick\thicc". That said there is a distinctive difference between thick and overweight.
Similar to my “big butt big dick” theory whereby only BBC black dudes could get their seed past those big butt cheeks and procreate hence we have black men today with monster dongs
Because the gym you "go to" is the only gym that people can go to? There are plenty of black women who go to my gym. And actually possibly many more in women only gyms.
I even see it in the gym. Overweight women, many are black but many are not, they are in the gym but 90% talking and 10% exercising. If they do anything it is something like ride the treadmill at 1/4 of a normal walking pace. Never exerting any effort at all, but dressed to the hilt in gold or loud colors and spandex, loud obnoxious hair, jewelry and make up that is inappropriate if you had any intention of sweating, leaving a trail of men vomiting behind them, very falsely thinking they look good. Geez, why don't I want to hit on someone like that? I think you can figure it out.

First... I am responding to GAG questions on here where women keep asking "How come black men don't want to date us black women?" And many black women in our community keep asking this question.

I don’t think there is anything wrong at all with having preferences but what I DO FIND VERY WRONG IS PUBLICLY ANNOUNCING THEM. There is no need to say white girls are better than black girls. Most black girls already know this, sadly:/ white girls are already wanted and pursued. Personally, I find white girls attractive but very boring overall. I like Latinas and black girls more due to chiller vibes and they are also cooler in my opinion. But these are preferences, again. I would never mention this to anyone but since we are here having this conversation, might as well.
Women in general tend to exercise differently. My school did zumba lessons in gym and general it was an African American female instructor. Zumba seems to be a more woman thing in general, but perhaps African American women prefer, I can't say. The obesity is definitely a medical concern, but I've also heard girth is more popular in women in African American culture. Women ranging from a little under weight to a little over weight can still be attractive, but obesity looks like death.
I see Black women working out but it is a much lower percentage than others.
You know I very rarely see Asians in the gym as well. Now they are commonly a small race of people but nonetheless I don't see them on the treadmill or in the weightroom either.
Black Hoes ( that’s how blacks refer to their women ) don’t care about their size. They’re more concerned with eating. I think that it’s not all of their fault. BMI doesn't mean much, true obesity looks like death. Granted most people are a little overweight with fat content, but having more muscle makes one overweight as well. Most people are over weight and settle for overweight. Also muscle is denser than fat. Women have higher fat content on average. Men have a higher muscle content. If you are obese it shows.
So i mean if i was a man i would be overweight at 62 kg but since i am a woman i am overweight at 58-59 according to bmi. So bmi does include that men are slightly heavier due to muscles
No, they only factor in the height. There are ranges in skeletal structure and muscle mass. Generally you are right in saying most people are overweight, but realistically it is most likely equal as behaviors. Bmi isn't a good comparative metric especially between men and women.
@Birdlegs SHe means if most black women are overweight than most black women would be embarressed to work out outside as its embarrassing so they work out at home. Which in turn is probably why you dont see many black women at gyms.
I'm guessing because they're proud of what they got and been told to flaunt it? I heard that being a bigger size is not an issue for them and is actually attractive
It's not just an overweight black women thing, I've seen black woman who are in really good shape. Some overweight people in general women and men for whatever reason think they can get a stick thin model.

Seems that the black guys are wanting the fat white girls.
I live close to the beach and I do see a lot of black girls on the heavy side. They wear anything:skimpy bathing suits, booty shorts, etc and seem to be enjoying themselves. I believe they think being fat is sexy.

The best body I've seen an a woman ever was my classmate in school Tichana. She was from Jamaica. That girl's figure was amazing. She was really dark brown and had flawless skin. And she was amazing at track. It was incredible to watch her run. I really admired her.
