But what if behind that facade he's just a very & I mean very insecure & self conscious type? Very self loathing & always putting everyone he meets down behind their backs?

He's not in the least bit arrogant but just out on a weak attempt

Would he become less intimidating?

First impressions define who people expect you to be and what your normal behavior is. In other words if some guy made me feel intimidated, I would never care or want to get to know him well enough to hear how he really is behind closed doors.

Besides after what you described them to be really like... it sounds like someone who could go postal and start shooting everyone in sight, No thank you!
