What do you think about poor guy and rich woman couples?

Their mostly seen on love stories, different movies & TV shows. I could only think of Titanic as a great example since DiCaprio played a role as the poor guy. I absolutely love him as an actor since he has many great films as well.

I don’t know about society but there are also couples or families wherein the guy is a stay-at-home partner, and the woman is the breadwinner. But in my case at least, even though I make more inco’e than my live-in partner, he still works hard per se.

Anything that comes to mind which involves a broke dude with a diamond queen?

From what I have seen IRL, when the woman makes more money she doesn't respect the guy as much, tends to be bossy and hypocritical in their relationship. I have had a few friends in a relationship where the woman made more than they did and it was obvious that she used it to be very controlling in their relationship, not letting them see friends, even when something is planned weeks in advance, not letting them make purchases with his own earned money more than $100 per month (but the wife could do whatever she wanted with her money), etc.

But the guys that make more often are more kind and caring towards their partner from what I have seen IRL.

I genuinely share her concern about being used for money. I don't want to go anywhere near such a suspicion.

I was born penniless starving grade poor. Only this year I turned middle class. Still a way to go to become rich. I love a rich woman as much as a single rich woman could love a good man, who isn't as rich and aims to make her feel loved.

As a girl that is rich (I'm not bragging, I haven't worked a day in my life to get it), I don't mind at all guys that are poor, I actually really liked one, in his own words his house looked like an "abandoned haunted house" and said stuff like "you know I have no ability to buy a car now", I didn't care he was really smart really funny and really really confident, he had a dispute with my friends (like our group, basically his ex friends), he was my close friend and I haven't seen him since.. People used to say we'd have been great together and now I don't even know if he's still alive or anything

I was in this kind of relationship and I don't want to do it ever again. He was always asking me for money and I couldn't say no. I was spending so much on him but he didn't even appreciate it. I don't regret it though, cause I've never loved anyone that much.

I grew up poor and always resented those plots, like the woman was some kind of savior. I was too proud--I even kept myself from asking out a girl whose company I enjoyed but who came from money. I needed to prove to myself that I could make my own way. I don't know that this is directly applicable to your situation though. Once I proved to myself that I could make it, I don't think I'd have had any reluctance to date someone who made more (especially if they'd made their own way too).

What ever works for them as long as they are happy. Humans are going to deal with some social evolution, because the dynamic has changed with civilization it won’t be permanent I don’t think as people are foolish , and could very well do something to shoot us back to the dark ages where the old gender roles will apply once again. Who knows though perhaps we will make it this time.

My brother is a stay-at-home father. He and his wife are happy and have been married 25 years. My oldest sister is in the same boat with her husband, only married longer. It seems to work well. The key is men not start drinking when the kids get older and do not need him so much (common problem).

Insecure guys with ego problems have issues with women who earn more, wife, or lover, or stranger for that matter.

They're stone age Neanderthals who think women should be at home, in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant... not in the workforce and certainly not out making more money than they.

If what you have works for you both, keep doing you. Go make your money baby. And let your man take care of your lives!

Anyone basing a relationship on wealth is shallow and really if someone is rush or not should not come in to it. Its just shallow and cheap no matter if it’s the guy or girl doing it.

I've seen this before. One one hand, in the Titanic it was hot. In the Notebook it was also hot. However- in real life; its not that attractive because you want both partners to be equal or else it can cause problems and resentment.
