My married friend says men want accountability partners and not cooperative order takers. What do you think?

That a lie. Men want us to do as they say, even in a relationship and marriage. It's all to deprive us from what we want to do because they think it would make them inferior or "make them look bad". I truly despise men with that type of mindset, all to keep us in check. When it comes for women voicing their concerns back it's no I wanna do what I want, leaving them the ultimate voice in the relationship or any situation. It's really disgusting.

Over the course of a relationship, the descriptors of each are going to be changing- sometimes one leads, sometimes the other- sometimes one is the "submissive order taker" , and sometimes the other, etc.
A balance that let's things work well, and that does not impinge on the dignity of either, would be a good target to hit.
