At what point in a relationship do you become 'exclusive' for each other?

You like each other, get yo know each other, hang out date... now you want to move ahead.

Your still checking them out but not anyone else. Do you communicate this?


I've always believed that when one initially starts to see someone, it's important to understand that in the beginning it's good to exercise freedom and respect and not impose restrictions right away.

But I also believe that when things start to show potential, only then is when we can start to see the other person as a potential partner for life.

Would you agree?
At what point or after how many dates etc do things become exclusive?

For me, it is when I have spent sufficient time with the person getting to know their personality and whether it is compatible with mine. Once all (or most) of the boxes are ticked, and I can view him as a potential long term partner, I would be exclusive.

The thing is that I would also never be non exclusive. It is time consuming enough to date one person, let alone two or three. Plus, I’m not doing myself or the guys any favours by dated multiple people.

I would be spreading myself thin and it would not be fair to them. To me, that almost seems like a “lets see who comes out on top” scenario. I’d rather date one person at a time.

I usually don't date several people at a time. At most I might if it's the first, maaayyybe second date if it overlaps in some way.

But if I start to date one, it's just that one.
I'm not interested in dating someone who's hooking up with others.
