Why do women consider a guy as best if he only dresses nicely?

Almost every woman I know is the same. We had some guys at college that used to dress up every day. Formal shirt, cologne, expensive pants and watch every day. With regular classes and so much study pressure, it was not possible for me. Those guys were the lowest performers in class, had low grades, were late on assignments, and bunked most of the classes. Yet girls were crazy after them, they even said to me that I should dress up as them.
I look better than those guys but I don't like dressing up too much. I feel like people will consider me dumb if I dress perfectly for every class.

I was one of that guys that dresed with expensive clothes, I did get attention from girls, not gold diggers but I felt like a clown.

you cold look the best you can but if your personality is shy, it won't work.
Now I dress more modest but I feel more confident.

Because dressing like a hobo is just not attractive to most women. It also tells something about your personality. Guys who dress badly are very often extremely boring, insecure, stiff and square people who don’t know how to have fun and completely lacks masculine energy. No, not all, but honestly in my experience most.

It's always the opposite. Guys with high-profile jobs or highly talented dress casually for everyday work. Most male CEOs, Nobel Laureates, ar high-profile artists I have seen dress just okayish. It's the men without anything good going on in their life or in menial jobs who dress super. Here I mentioned those guys were constantly failing in class and ended up with many retakes.
