It seemed like by far the most girls would be totally on board for a guy like that, but I have a feeling that most of those opinions were predicated on him not being poor due to... well, not having his shit together in one way or another. But let's see!

Just to clarify: There would be no certainty of the guy ever landing on his feet, ever getting back on his feet, or him "getting his shit together". If that is a requirement for you, then please vote "No".

The requirement of him "trying" to get his shit together, should also count as a "No". The point of this question is about whether you'd be willing to accept the guy as he is.

I'd say NO. Because I see that person as simply lazy, and has absolutely no energy to do anything in life. As a motivated, driven, focused girl who has big dreams, I simply cannot get along with or understand such a person. I hate the type of person who is simply looking to "get along" in life with the bare minimum. It just makes them look so lethargic like a 85 yr old walking out of a nursing home, just no energy to do anything.

Plus, you can't start a family with someone who doesn't have his shit together, unless you have mountains of cash ready. I wouldn't want such a guy to be a role model for my kids either. God forbid my kid does nothing his entire life.

Based on Jenn's question, you already know my answer to that. I'm okay with him not having money, I'm okay with him perhaps failing to get back on his feet. But I don't want him to settle for less and give up. He must keep trying.

I see what you're getting at, but that's why I included "-and who might never get it", so that in the case that you need the guy to be able to get back on his feet for certain, then that doesn't qualify, as there wouldn't be any certainty of that. You'd have to accept him as is.

The answer is it kind of depends on her experience with men. Most women will date an attractive broke guy. But after a while his broke ass would turn her off. Then she'll dump him and look for another attractive guy and probably even accept him being broke. But this will repeat till she's turned off by broke guys. Then she'll only look for an attractive guy with money.
