Should I ask her out and if so how do I do it?

So I've been thinking about asking out a former female coworker (Im a guy). We worked together for several years and a couple years ago both left to take jobs in completely different fields. I've talked to her a couple times briefly since then over fb messenger just seeing how she's doing but it's been close to a year since then and I don't have her phone number. I just don't want to make it awkward but I also know I need to show confidence if I'm going to have any chance with her. What do I do?

I sincerely think you can freely ask her out, I comprehend there’s a basically entente between you two but you can’t define you two really friends.
You can contact her through FB messenger asking her how’s doing and maybe proposing an innocent meet up like a coffee together. Here, between various topics of discussion, you can ask her the number, she can give her number if she want to remain in contact, you can say that since you appreciate her fellowship.

There, you see, if she gives the number, you can proceed on a properly dating phase, since she opened for a relationship (as friends), it is up to you to play your game asking her out more and bringing the relationship on the sentimental side.

On the other hand, if she refuses to give her number or she refuses to join another innocent appointment, you should give up, since she seems disinterested.

This is the 21st century, It would be easy to find out her phone number. Call her out of the blue. ASk her how she is doing. Tell her a little bit about what you have been doing. Find an event that you think she might enjoy. concert or movie or something. See if she is up to it. You don't have to make it a date or anyrhing creepy.
