I started dating a guy and it has been going really well. He told me he was looking for his partner. The last date he told me he liked me. We made arrangements to go to his basketball tournament but it was canceled but I asked if he still wanted to hang. He said yes. The next day came around and he took hours to text back, we said 7 but I didn’t hear anything from him. I texted him at almost 9 that it was getting too late and I’m going to stay inside. He said he was caught up “washing his car”. Immediately I was upset. He said we can hang tomorrow and I just said “I’ll let you know”. He apologized but I didn’t respond to the text. I know we are in the early stages of dating so I understand if he has his options open, but don’t lie and especially, don’t flake. Mind you, I am 26 and he is 29. He knows better.
Superb Opinion
I think honestly it’s evident he lied, or at least he told you a partial truth and he missed you appointment, so there’s been a lack of respect from him.
I think sincerely since you’re in early stages and this happened only once, you can wait for his eventual proposal. If he writes you for hanging out, you can accept, if he disappears, let him be, since his behaviour is incoherent… he claimed to like you but he flaked you and he disrespected you.
I think it’s important you don’t propose anything, let him make his moves to see what he does.
