How do YOU prepare for a dinner date?

This question is about how  you  personally get ready for a dinner date. I personally go on quite a number of dinner dates, and although they were business arrangements and not exactly romantic settings, I found out that when meeting female contacts one-on-one the basics are more or less the same - haircut, beard trim, pressed and clean clothes, be willing to spend.  If it's agreed that I go pick them up and might drive them home, I also clean the car inside out and naturally use the new one. What about you?

Regardless of the type of date:

1. Clean mouth. Flossed and brushed teeth, scraped tongue. Dental floss in purse in case I get food stuck between my teeth so I can excuse myself to the bathroom and fix it.

2. Comfortable outfit. It has to be something that is not too tight or restricting especially on the belly area to be able to sit and eat comfortably. And the wrist has to be open so no overly long dramatic sleeves with ruffles and stuff because then you would constantly have to roll them back to not get them in the food. This is the time to get away with wearing uncomfortable high heels because I'll be sitting most of the time. If you get cold easily you may want to carry an additional later to keep you warm indoors, I personally like to carry a shawl or poncho.

3. Makeup that focuses on the eyes and skin and not the lips. People can see your face closely so if you have cakey makeup it will be noticeable especially in a candlelight dinner so it's essential that the skin has a natural texture. A natural-looking sheer lipstick applied and blotted a few times leaves a stain that lasts through a meal and is easy to touch-up in the bathroom. Eye makeup can be as bold as I like.

4. Hair styled in a way that it stays away from the face. A classic bun is hard to go wrong with, but hair down with the front bits pinned back also work.

5. Enough cash to pay your own share, even if someone else is paying. You never know.

6. Never go being completely impoverished. Make sure you have eaten something within a few hours before the dinner. Otherwise you may order too much food or stuff your face. The point of a dinner date whether professional or romantic or otherwise is to socialize. You should be able to comfortably eat your food in small bites so you can quickly finish chewing and continue talking, it gets awkward if you took a big bite of food, someone asks you a question then you both have to wait until you're done chewing the food. You can never go wrong with good dining etiquette.

I usually have a single look that I go for so I usually get ready quicker. it's the make up that takes the longest. I would tell my date a lot so they are usually always prepared as well and know what to expect from.

Supposed it's a romantic setting, the number one key point is to be extremely clean and organized inside, outside and everywhere she could visit.

If you are picking her up, if your car isn't pristine then get your car detailed or just get a rental if in a rush.

Shower, bath, teeth brushed, mouthwash shaved body everything you can and definitely use subtle cologne.

Dress business casual with proper shoes, get your hair done and your beard trimmed or clean shaven. Dress like you mean business but now you are relaxing a bit.

Clean your house until it looks like a model home if you plan to invite her over.

Finally, prepare in advance what you are looking for. What are your dreams and aspirations and how someone else would fit in there. Prepare to ask about her aspirations and stuff. Only talk about things she wants to imagine and think about.

Pick my shirt that's the lease wrinkly and toss it in the dryer with a wet rag.

Brush my teeth obviously but I got a little his weird thing about people with toothpaste breath so I eat something that won't totally ruin it or maybe drink a coke.

I try to do my hair slightly later in the day than usual because there's maybe a span of 4 hours where I feel like it looks the best and then starts to go down hill, so I try to time it to around the time she's going to do something to ruin it anyway.

Do something relaxing before, don't go straight from working. Play some Xbox or practice something with one of my hobbies.

Usually it's around now that I realize my shirts been sitting in the dryer all day and is probably wrinkly again so I gotta start all over.

Empty out my car, get cash, listen to jazz on my way there.

One gets one shot in person to connect or bond or create a sense of such a possibility on first date. I do regular mundane stuff but pull my Word doc on Subject (Her Name) and review summarized points discussed to bring up again as to convince her that “he’s funny and attentive too”.

Uhm for a romantic dinner date... well shower, brushing teeth and co - basics
and afterwards I just pickup an appropriate outfit and well doing my makeup and hair and last but not least picking the right accessories/jewelleries and shoes and perfect scent

All the usual stuff, but I’ll give the family jewels a nice clean shave just in case there’s going to be a little action after. Doesn’t mean I’m expecting anything to happen after, I’m just a thoughtful guy and if anything did end up happening after I would hate to disappoint with unmanscaped goods.

a date is the opportunity for me to show up like i really am.

I make sure i am groomed, had a recent wash, apply deodorant and perfume. And then i put on my favorite stylish clothes and jewelry and wearables.

Nothing over the top fancy. You'll never see me in a business suit except when there will be a dress code somewhere.

The basic hygiene stuff

In a formal setting

Pick a tie, put on both my shirt and undershirt, put my collar stiffeners in then fold the cuffs for my cufflinks, do a double Windsor and put on my jacket which contains my card, cash and anything else I might need

In a more social setting
Put on my dress shirt, collar studs and put my nessicary stuff in various pocket

In general... Select outfit, shower (either with hair or without depends on when was my hair last washed), make sure my brows and stache are neat. Wash teeth, apply some eye glitter, hope traffic is not a massive bitch and show up.
