Hi guys, the guy I’m dating hasn’t responded in a week during a family emergency. His grandmother had a possible stroke the day-of trip I was supposed to see him, so I cancelled flight. He responded once the day-of, and once vaguely a few days later, but hasn’t responded since. It's been over a week. I asked him for an update on her and his family well over a week ago, and no response.
How long is too long to wait? He's never really done this before. We're very close, so usually I get updates. This is the first time he's ever just dropped off. I don’t want to be disrespectful. However, he’s also running his family’s business during the day at the same time.
I'm not going to text him, but at one point, he said he gets distant and shuts down sometimes when stressed. He's just never done it to me
Also, we recently started seeing each other after again being separated for almost 2 years. It's only been a month of talking, so I'm definitely worried something happened with that. It's bad timing and I'm probably not the first person he's going to, so that’s the irrational thought in my mind
any tips on how to also handle guys when they get like this or on patience to wait over the next week or 2 would be awesome. thanks guys

Text him to ask how the situation is going and that you're thinking of him. After that it's up to him to reply! If he doesn't reply to that in a few days, I don't think it'll work out.
