Why would my best friend’s date ask me to hang out with him?

So… My friend is 25, I am 26.

She’s really very very pretty. The other day when we were out she was approached by a 20 year old handsome boy that we both thought was very cute and he was so handsome she decided to give him a chance.

He also acted like such a gentleman, really mature for his age. They’ve met fee times since then and we went on a double date together.

They had a good chemistry, all of a sudden, the next day that guy followed my IG and couple days later, messaged me to hang out with him.

First, I would never go out alone with my best friend’s date, and I kinda felt offended he thought I would.

I declined and told about this to my friend. Of course, they parted. I just wonder what was going through his mind? Did he really think I wouldn’t tell my friend? Or did he think it’s not a big issue?

I could think of a bunch of reasons why an immature 20 year old might do this. But none of us here are going to actually know what was going through his mind. It's just going to be a bunch of different guesses and you won't know which is correct.

He apologized both of us and when my friend confronted him, he said he only likes him and he didn’t mean it in a bad way.

I think he was just testing waters with both friends.

Not sure. Maybe he really just wanted to hang out but without the presence of my friend and without her approval - that’s not a right thing to do, not was I interested to hang out with him

Yeah, it is possible he just wasn't aware of social dynamics. Not likely, but possible. He may have been interested in you over her. He obviously saw his mistake, or at least saw that you both considered it a mistake. It's hard to say, there's just too little information to go on

So… We met him in a bar. We both liked him and we both swapped eye contact, but he obviously liked her more and asked her out.

Meanwhile he acted very friendly and gentleman like to me.

On a double date, my friend made some mistakes when talking, she’s not very educated. However, I am quite educated and I acted so as well. I noticed they acted very respectful to me and his friend was also very admiring and respectful when they learned more about me.

I tried not to over-shine my friend, didn’t even take off my coat cause I was wearing very sexy outfit and didn’t want to blind the minds of those youngsters and didn’t want to get their attention from my friend.

However, she indeed said some things that needed my explanation and I helped her out explain her words or otherwise she would sound stupid.

What I noticed is that these boys were quite smart and picked up on her mistakes. While trying to talk her out of the situation we clicked in conversation. That was all. We just had intellectual convo I didn’t flirt. I had zero interest. They were at the age of my students.

Later on, my friend and he kissed each other. We talked nicely and parted our lives ways.

The other day he added me and soon he messaged me he wanted to go out with me to hang out.

Of course, I declined and told him there’s no way I and him would ever meet unless my friend was there as well.

Because I knew he actively courted my friend before and my friend liked him as well.

Okay, then I wouldn't be surprised if he was interested in you. Maybe he got a hint of your sexy outfit, but it sounds like he really appreciated your intellectual conversation. That is always attractive to intellectual men, because we really like to pitch and catch ideas with women. And when they can well? It's highly attractive.

However him reaching out to you like that was a very big faux pas. Especially because you are such a loyal friend.
