While it’s not entirely a rejection I can’t help but feel like he’s not on the same level as me with that response. How do you interpret that?

It's difficult to interpret the response without more context, but it's possible that he simply expressed his enjoyment of your company without explicitly stating his feelings. It's also possible that he does not feel the same level of connection as you do, but it's important to communicate openly with him and express your feelings in a clear and respectful way. It's important to keep in mind that everyone experiences and expresses emotions differently, and it's possible for someone to have strong feelings for another person without using the same language or expressions as someone else.
Well you’re right I shouldn’t assume what it means, I was just being honest that I was feeling scared because I feel a connection with him but we are doing long distance 3 hrs and he has reservations and is going very slow because of that which make me feel nervous even if they are valid reasons. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the risk I’m worried. Here’s what he said to me:
“I think it’s normal to feel nervous/ frustrated/ confused in situations like this. It’s not like I can pop over and give you a hug or something after work so we get a lot of time to sit and stew, overthink things especially if you feel connected with someone but they feel distant. I’m not really a fortune teller though so I can’t tell you what the future looks like. I enjoy you but it is hard being away from someone you enjoy so much.
I suppose that is the risk/ reward of dating someone but in this case it’s long distance so it adds another layer of complexity to those feelings.”
It sounds like your partner is being honest and transparent about their reservations and concerns in your long-distance relationship. It's understandable to feel nervous and uncertain in this situation, but it's important to have open communication with your partner and discuss your feelings and concerns with them. Long-distance relationships can be challenging, but they can also be rewarding if both parties are committed and willing to put in the effort. It's important to evaluate whether the potential rewards outweigh the risks and whether this relationship is ultimately what you want. Trust your instincts and take things slow, and remember that communication and honesty are key in any relationship.
You’re so wise
Oh thank you very much!
I think he is physically attracted to you but you are emotionally attracted to him.
