My boyfriend hasn't been treating me well for 4 months and I have asked him countless times to treat me better being specific and each time he's said he would and nothing changes. It got to the final straw a few days ago and I bluntly I told him I'm in two minds whether to break up or give him another chance. We kept going back and forth Eventually he had a call he had to attend and I needed to do my assignment so we agreed to go and I left. He called me whilst I was driving home, gave me the ultimatum that I dump him now or I come back after my exams and while I'm studying for my exams he will work on himself. He said I have to promise him I'm coming back otherwise he's worked on himself for nothing, when I didn't respond straight away he said I was dumped, I said I need to return and get my things then, he went on to say why can't you just promise me you will come back after you're exams. He said he can't be in limbo for a week and a half while he waits for me to finish my exams. I explained I was in limbo for 4 months but It didn't seem to matter. I said I can't make that decision During this phone conversation the only thing on my mind is my assignment and hung up. He's been very sweet now and is obviously trying very hard to get me back now. He's apologized on multiple accounts but there is no change of action over the span of the 4 months. I left his place on Wednesday morning It's now Friday. My exams are not this Saturday (tomorrow) they are next Saturday and the following Monday. I don't think I can deal with the stress of a break up now but I would feel its mean waiting till after my exams to break up with him. Obviously I'm worried he will change for the next girl and he even asked it himself. I don't have time to be a crying mess after a break up but I also don't have time to be in my current uncertain upset state of mind. Should I leave now or after my exams?
