Should you start dating others even if your crush for someone else is still there?

So I’ve been talking with this guy after we met in a group project for at least 8 months now. However we only have been texting as friends and hung out once in person. But I’m actually attracted to him however I get this feeling he may not feel the same about me since he never obviously asked me out on a date or anything. So basically I’ve been trying to date around to move on from this crush. I met this guy recently and I think realistically he’ll make a good boyfriend and everything and I think he’s a great person. But half of me fears to commit to a person because I still have lingering feelings for my crush who I still text. What do you guys think? Should I just not date anyone if I have lingering feelings for my crush? What if these feelings never go away? Or do you think if I try committing and dating someone else my feelings will develop for them instead over time?

If you really like him. Then you should ask him out. If you wait on men…. You only get the men who approach you. That’s your only options and you can’t choose who you want.


On the other hand you’re not in a relationship with this guy. So sure you can date. But don’t miss your opportunity. Especially if you’re dating other guys. His chances of approaching you if he likes you are becoming less and less because he figures you’re not into him

You could wait for a little while, just to make sure nothing will happen with the other guy. What you could do though is get to know both of them better, hang out with each of them more, and find out which one would make a better boyfriend.

The one guy you mentioned sounds like a better boyfriend for you because he's a nice guy, but maybe talk to your first crush and see if his personality matches up. Good luck to you!

Feelings do actually fade, that's the reality. Your feelings for your crush will fade someday. Why would you be loyal for someone you aren't committed to in the first place? You're wasting your time.
