Why does a guy play childish ‘make her jealous’ games when he chooses another girl over you?

I mean he liked and flirted with us both. He thought I rejected him many months previously as I didn’t realise him asking me out was a date per se. He started dating this other girl and even still sent mixed signals for weeks and months after it. He says things and you’ll have to take my word for it but explicitly to make me jealous. He stares, teases, eavesdrops when I talk to others. I’m not anyones second choice. I’m not anyones back up. We don’t really text these days other than the rare communication in groupchats. Why does he still try to push my buttons or get under my skin. I’m doing everything I can to avoid him but we’re in the same circles and I will bump into him from time to time. I broadly ignore him but even then he tries to get my attention. He could be all over his girlfriend and he’ll be repeating things I’m saying in my conversation with others. He’s wrecking my head..

Probably the same exact motive. Drama and shit starting. It sounds really childish for your age range, but I guess things are getting that bad out there. High school drama stuff past the age of 18 should be illegal.

My advice would be to remove this person from physically being around ASAP. Probably hiding any social media as well just to be safe. No interaction... make sure your closest friends are aware of the bullshit he's probably going to do when he comes around. DO NOT end up alone with him.

As for reasons that he's doing drama and shit-stirring... your guess is as good as mine. Some people just live for bullshit like that. Starting fires for no reason is just some people's thing. It could be anything from jealousy to someone that can't handle any form of rejection. Some people just feel entitled to attention.

I did not even finish reading you post because the problem is so obvious. Communication! Realize that most guys are terrible at nonverbal communication. What you read into as “signals” and “signs” is likely actually nothing. Guys are much better at explicit communication. If you are interested, say so! Stop it with the childish “I want him to ask me out, but won’t do it myself games”, it is a really immature way to search for a partner.
