Is that a right thing to tell my male coworkers about going on a date?

I feel like out of them two, one of them likes me at least.

I am on friendly terms with both and I would like to keep it that way.

But I was just talking with one of them and he asked me what I plan on Monday and I told him I have a date. He kinda looked disappointed, because we have been talking a lot and we connected really well but I was being friendly all this time, so I felt like he got kinda upset, his face changed real quick and then he tried to keep on again but I noticed that and felt bad.

Maybe I mustn’t have said about the date? Because we planned to go Karting on Monday and I rescheduled it telling them, I have an important meeting on Monday.

But I now feel bad… Maybe he liked me…

But I prefer him to know I am being friendly with him and the three of us can have better fun if we stay friends.

But it doesn’t help, I still feel bad to have seen his upset face. I feel guilty.

When it comes to dating, especially with inter office drama, hearts get broken. It's part to the package. You obviously are a compassionate, sweet person to consider the feelings of all parties involved. Better that he knows your just friends. It would be worse if he didn't and his interest in you continued to grow so when he did eventually find out, he'd be even more crushed. Honesty is always the best policy (unless you are having an affair).

He probably would have found out anyway, so at least he won't think you lied to him or tried to conceal it.
Besides, it's just a date. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are going steady with the guy. If the guy you told is a grown up, he'll realize that.

If you liked him enough then you would have gone on a date with him. But having told him, you’re clarifying boundaries. Nothing wrong with that:

Pretty tough. I like this woman that I used to work with, and I didn’t want to ruin our work relationship. When I asked her out the first time I didn’t want to do anything that we would both regret, so we could have fun, and still work together.
