What are the challenges of dating a famous model?

I am still in the game,

with my one leg, haha

Got asked out by Shanghai based famous model, with over hundreds of thousands of followers and a lot of fans. First of all, he must have a peculiar taste to like me, which I appreciate.

He’s indeed the most handsome man I’ve ever set my eyes on, in my entire 27 years of existence. If I look at his photo for too long, I might forget how to breathe. He doesn’t know I like him that much though.

He knows I have a broken leg and he’s willing to take me on a date with my wheelchair,

Here’s a thing though, I made a deal with myself, that I’ll not date men based on their looks anymore and

2nd, I don’t necessarily feel ready to date with just one functional leg, I’d rather wait to heal.

However, here’s an opportunity that many people would take.

I don’t know why I am asking, I want you to tell me the downsides of dating him, so I will validate my decision to not date him and be on my own and choose somebody else based on his personality in future.

I said “He has a Peculiar taste to like me” - because I don’t think I am very likable. So for him to like me, he must be thinking out of the box. That’s why I appreciate it. I am not conventionally beautiful.

This question is not supposed to sound arrogant. I am just genuinely surprised and a bit excited about this situation.

Oh, just go for it. Live. When you're old, you'll have more memories to shift through.

Your leg is an encumbrance, but it will perhaps put the brakes on in a convenient way. You'll see how accommodating he is, and you can take things slow, saying you need to rest some days.

I could give advice such as to "be careful", and "see what you can garner from his social media and media chatter", but I won't. Instead, I'll say the less obvious, but also still plausible: Sometimes others see us differently than the ways we see ourselves. It's a fact of life that people are generally more concerned with how they come off, are perceived and known, primarily and firstly. Sure, they also have tons of opinions about others, but especially in the beginning, they wonder what people think of them. And later, when you get to know them better, you may become someone within their inner circle, or, even someone who knows them better, more intimately and wholly than others who have known them longer. Everyone wants to be appreciated. Just remember that. You could be suspicious of him, and think about all the ways his fame has impacted his life and his [personhood? Can't think of a better], all the attention, and Likes, and adoration and appreciation he receives. Or you could think of him more in terms of being just another human being, with his own issues, struggles, desires, foibles, seemingly inconsistencies, etc etc. Maybe he feels people who him, but only superficially, and he feels trapped in that image sometimes; unable to let loose, or really open up to anyone. Trust is a significant aspect of public figures' lives. They question people's motives. They can feel like an object, or arm candy, or a wallet, and so much more. So, just take it slow, and enjoy the ride, whatever happens. Don't try to control it too much, be too skeptical, or put too many limitations or expectations on it, or him. He'll likely really appreciate you for it. You don't have to be used, and you should guard your heart if it's tender, but treat him as a person, not a star, or someone you put on a pedestal. It might be refreshing for him to just relax, and be able to be himself, not live up to some image of who people think he is, or should be.

Personally, I would never date a model.. Most conventionally very good-looking people by society's beauty standards tend to be arrogant, self-absorbed and narcissisistic to a certain extent, not down-to-earth. When you hear your whole life how good-looking you are, it's hard not to let it get to your head and remain down-to-earth. You don't need to try that hard and actually cultivate your talents, as people tend to be oblivious/more forgiving to your flaws (studies have shown that good-looking people tend to be perceived as more intelligent, funnier and agreeable than less attractive people, because of the halo effect). Maybe he's the exception I don't know him, but models also tend to have less-stable relationships and change girlfriends all the time, especially very famous ones/celebrities.

If he's a role model, many aspire to be like them. That makes them men of action. Not many downsides to be had.

If he's aesthetic model, that's up to him what his downsides are. If he is vain and lives for his looks, his pride and self worth will be tied to his appearance.

Being that attractive can be a lonely life for some. Drowned in superficial praise, they may feel their voice never gets heard. No one may know who they truly are.

Contrast that with those who instead let their looks define them. When their looks fade, so goes their identity. They'll become a ghost in a shell.

When I was a kid, I think what made my friendships so solid was it wasn't about looks, it was about playing, it was about action. We're good mimickers of what we see. We can't all be followers of the superficially elite, but we can be of those of action. Even a man in tattered rags smelling of his own excrement living under a bridge can be moved to recycle trash and do something positive for the world.

On dating, the beautiful can become one of two types of heartbreakers. There are the ones who are promiscuous and share themselves with multiple people, who feel the world is theirs and they themselves are a gift to be coveted.

Then there's the other heartbreaker, the monogamous one. Where they commit to one, and only one. One heart feels their touch, every other broken heart is left to fend for their own. They feel the world is a gift to everyone and it is what you make of it. It's the tragic part of monogamy. But what makes it beautiful is every bleeding heart can participate. Everyone can find their special someone.

Whichever one you choose, is entirely up to you.

Your question is pretty specific but take is this: I understand you not wanting to date a guy based on looks. Fair enough. Something to think about: how can you be certain he doesn't have the personality that you value? Just because his looks are off the charts doesn't mean he doesn't have the personality you want? So really you are disqualifying him from consideration without getting to know his personality, at all. That is supreme self sabotage...
Go out with him, at least once. And find out if you like his personality. Maybe he has the personality of a ping pong ball... maybe not.

Well , I dont know about your circumstance , but I appreciate the challenges of dating a model , I won't say famous model , but its all the same thing.

1. Affirmation , the constant need , even when she was pissed off with people complimenting.

2 . Cattiness / Jealously , the industry is full of it.

3 . Schedules , can be really tight , and travel.

4 . Dudes just " hanging around " , they are everywhere.

5 . Casting Couch - its real and its still around.

6 . Drugs , particularly the drug of choice cocaine , but also amfeds are everywhere.

7 . Designers / Fashion incons ; blame everybody else , but themselves

8 . Stress ; Its supposed to be about fashion the model is the coat hanger.

There is more , add all that up and imagine , but I will follow up later.

100k followers don't make you star material in most places.

I work with a girl who happens to be an influencer most my friends follow and we go have lunch in public all the time, and she does get recognized, but other than that she's a normal person living a normal life. There are no private jets and butlers and sex dungeons (that I know of)

He could date anyone he wants and probably does. People like that in general are seeking personal gratification from admirers. He is likely looking to add you to the many notches on his bed post, use you and then on to the next.

On the flip side, knowing that, you could let him take you out and you take from him without giving him what he wants. He will soon tire and move on but you will have been treated to some nice dinners and fancy places.

The downsides are that a lot of girls will like him and offer to hook up with him and most male celebrities will give in and hook up with their fans once in a while even if they have a girlfriend. I think the biggest challenge is the attention that person gets from other people. There´s a deeper level of trust needed that person will stick to their boundaries since they have more people that want them than they could ask for.
There are surely more issues but I would argue that not getting jealous when other women show interest in him is the biggest issue to solve in this situation.

My little experience with a model reminded me of people in theater. They never turn it off. It's like they are always on stage and always acting. So I never knew who she really was, because it was a full time act. She seemed phony all the time. All her mannerisms and speech seemed like they were scripted.

I don't put my pic on social media and I make sure that pics aren't taken at places I'm associated with. There are some real crazies out there.

I’m curious why you think you aren’t likable or conventionally attractive?
As to your question, I don’t think the problem is dating attractive men. I suspect you’re ignoring red flags with attractive men. Him being a model definitely qualifies as at least a yellow flag. But I wouldn’t avoiding dating just because you have an injury though.
