That really depends on what steps he took to get help for that. Nobody is perfect and ultimately to put your hands on anyone, you have to have some kind of issues. I would have a very very very hard time giving a guy a chance but him even addresssing that he has done that is pretty grown to do. Abusers will NOT admit that they have done that stuff before
As someone who has been assaulted many times by my ex partners, fuck no, there is absolutely no way I'd be risking that again even if they've "changed" coz if it's so easy for them to do it once it's just as easy for them to do it again and there's not fuckin way I'm putting myself through that again absolutely fuckin not
